Some security experts anticipated that the nightmare would eventually reorganize into potent groups in Pakistan's neighbor Afghanistan after the Taliban's defeat.
In the film, Pakistan is depicted as the latest terrorist hotspot where the Taliban and Al-Qaida have established new command centers out of the reach of American armed forces.
Pakistan welcomed the Taliban from Afghanistan, and they quickly held sway over a sizable portion of the lawless tribal regions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
With difficulties faced by the U.S. military in reaching the Taliban in Pakistan, it mainly relied on the Pakistan's government that on their side did nothing to deal with the terrorist group.
The mosques in Pakistan, for instance, openly supported the group financially and with weapons that were to be used to fight the American soldiers (Mughal, 2017).
It was only after an attempted suicide attack on Musharaf that the Pakistan government started dealing with the Al-Qaeda and Taliban.
In 2004, Pakistan launched a joint offensive against the Al-Qaeda and tribal militias with the aim of taking control of all those areas where the Al-Qaeda training camps were located.
However, the offensive failed, and Musharaf was forced to turn to negotiations.
The agreement, however, failed as part as it had started with the Taliban and Al-Qaeda who continued directing their attacks to the American forces.
With Pakistan doing little to deal with terrorism, the US launched Hellfire missile attacks to those areas that were perceived to be Al-Qaeda Operatives stronghold, but all along, the Pakistan military took credit.
This was however uncovered by Hayat Ullah Khan, a journalist that uncovered the U.S. involvement in eliminating the Al-Qaeda leaders (Mughal, 2017).
He was later brutally killed by the Pakistan military for embarrassing the government.
Analysis of terrorism-related content in the movie
Based on the movie "The Return of the Taliban," it is clear that the Taliban and Al-Qaeda groups carried various terrorist activities and this was made possible through the funding that they received from certain government officials and tribal groups.
Among these attacks was the 9/11 attack that was more of a retaliatory attack for the U.S. involvement in Afghanistan.
Other than the U.S, the terrorist groups also carried out terrorist attacks in the tribal borders of Pakistan.
The American military found it hard to deal with these groups in Afghan and Pakistan border, and this was attributed to their understanding of the terrain and support from their tribesmen.
In most occasions, the U.S. called for the support of Pakistan, who on their side, were hesitant to deal with the terrorist groups.
There are various lessons that can be derived from the movie.
One of these lessons is gathering of intelligent information on the terrorist group can be useful in strategically beating them at their game.
Prior research on the target areas can help the military to have an understanding of the terrorists' terrain, and this makes it easy for them to fight the enemy.
Moreover, the military has to be fully equipped with sophisticated equipment compared to those of their enemies.
Finally, shutting down of the terrorist recruitment camps such as the mosque at the border of Pakistan and Afghanistan can be instrumental in dealing with the issues of terrorist attacks and terrorism.
