Prejudice and Stereotype in Conflict Resolution

[Prejudice and stereotype are similar since they both refer to the attitudes and feelings that one has towards a particular individual or group in the society. These attitudes may be positive or negative. In this case, there is a specific prejudice on women that their work is simply staying home and making babies while the rest of the people are busy working and paying taxes to support them(Theresa " Kevin, 2017)]

Reflection

[Conflict may be caused due to differences in attitudes or ideas towards something or someone. Women in this case, will not agree with men who feel that they do not work. Due to the lack of consensus on this matter conflict may arise and a conflict resolution method should be applied to bring about peace between the two groups. Going to courts to solve disputes is quite expensive hence, most people prefer other conflict resolution strategies such as negotiation, arbitration and mediation that result in a win-win' scenario. Approaching a conflict resolution strategy in the right way is key to solving the conflict. One must be respectful, avoid being too emotional, be objective and focus on the future when resolving a dispute. Negotiation between the men and women may be used in this case (Bullock, 2012).]

Strategy 1: [Fill this in]

[In the prejudice above, various strategies can be used to bring peace. Intergroup contact theory can be used to reduce intergroup conflict due to the negative attitude that men have towards women. In this method women and men are made to interact more so that they both understand each other better and for men to stop having prejudgments towards women in the society.]

Strategy 2: [Fill this in]

[The second strategy is the intergroup interactions. According to Emmer " Wagner (2015), intergroup interactions reduces negative attitudes and feelings towards different groups and the same can prove invaluable in conflict resolution. (Emmer " Wagner, 2015).]

Conclusion

[Prejudice leads to bad blood between parties involved since one feels agitated by the negative attitudes towards them which lead to conflict. The culture of different people also contributes to the method of conflict resolution that is to be used. It is wise to solve conflicts to foster peaceful coexistence between conflicting parties just as demonstrated in this case.]
