Culture refers to the specific way in which people think, act and believe. It also incorporates the people’s use of physical objects and art to describe their way of life as acquired from society collectively. Social forces are an effective desire that leads to social action (Mooney, 2014). The cultural and social effects of a specific community are significant in defining the way people behave. The way people think and act can be influenced by interactions between peers, friends, social media and family members.
Influence of Media on Social Behaviors
The media plays a vital role in influencing an individual's social behaviors. A good example is the influences in new dressing codes such as the designer's clothes, latest vehicle, motorbikes, and makeups among others (Mooney, 2014). Due to the improved technology, the media portrays the most recent trends on social networks such as Facebook, Instagram, televisions, and YouTube (Mooney, 2014). Thus people watching tend to like the new treads which influence them to buy. Therefore they change their ways of living, talking, thinking and the way they dress to mimic what they see on social media.
Media and Advertising's Impact on Understanding and Behavior
Media and advertising create awareness all over the world through the internet and televisions hence it can influence people's understanding either positively or negatively (Mooney, 2014). Television programs and movies, plays a significant role in changing people understands in that, people tend to feel like they are part of the films and try to copy the characters behaviors in their real life (Mooney, 2014). Trying to replicate the characters behavior results in the behavioral change in people. A good example is when the children watch an action movie and after that try to act like the heroes they saw in the film. Positively, media and advertisement can increase products sales leading to raised profits, which can improve people’s living standards.
