With the advancement in technology the world is transforming in a rapid pace. Communication will never be the same as it used to be in the Ancient Greece. There is media revolution through the use of radios, televisions and the internet. There is a great paradigm shift whereby decision making is basically influenced by the integration of video, sounds and the digital-born multimodio texts. The following is an inclusive essay on my personal argument about the qualities of some communication medium. Additionally, it answers the following questions which are key to understanding the communication medium. They are; why is it better to present logical information like statistics in a visual manner rather than written format? How photojournalism is more powerful than written journalism? How truly is a picture worth a thousand words? among others.
It is much better to present logical information in visual form rather than written form. Unlike written information, a visual presentation is effective for both the illiterate and literate targets, the illiterate can understand a visual information unlike the written information which might pose and demand a lot of interpretation. The use of pictures and diagrams makes it possible to communicate an oral communication. Additionally visual information offers ease of explanation, this is possible because people can follows images and allows effectively. Visual interpretation also helps to save time, unlike the written information which requires someone to read and understand a presentation. Finally, visual presentation I much popular unlike the written presentation (Business Communication, pg. 2). From the above claims I prefer visual presentation over written presentation, it is much better than the written presentation.
Photojournalism is much powerful than written journalism, according to Wohlers (pg 1) a photojournalism enables a reader to have a direct contact with the facts rather than just reading about them. It opens an open discussion because people are in an immediate context with the pictures presented by a photo journal unlike the written journal which is wordy. Wohlers also affirms that a photo journal conveys communication much faster than the written journal which involves detailed papers. From my opinion it is recommendable to use a photo journal, this is because it rhymes with the digital technological advancement. It enables people to have a direct contact with facts presented in a journal enabling them to understand the journal even much better.
It is very much true that a picture is worth more than words. A picture tells much more than words; this is supported by the fact that a picture captures more attention. Human brain is much drawn by visual images, this is because images are much easier to grab and interpret. A picture also explains much tough complex, it is always possible to capture an image, concentrate greatly, and translate it to more meaningful meaning and finally understand it. Addionally a picture inspires, billboards, bright colored pictures inspires and capture a viewer attention (Balm, pg 3). If I were to choose I would choose pictures over words, pictures draws attentions easily and aspires. Pictures are easier to interpret as compared to words.
Reading a book is always better that watching a film adaptation. Reading a book enables a reader to step in the shoes of the characters and understand their lives much better. Books always upheld honesty on the other hand films are always corrupted to favor the viewers. A book or a novel gives its reader a chance to choose their characters, it only describes a character and live the rest to its reader. On the other hand, a film adaptation feeds characters into its viewer mind. A book also allows its reader to use their own pace in reading it, unlike the film which is directed by producers and directors who control everything in it, including speed (Goerke, pg 03). It is better to go for a book, it is not corrupted, and it gives you the chance to be fully integrated into it.
Pathos-driven famously known as click bait is very popular in the internet. This is because it drives internet users to open a particular website. It uses attractive words such as ‘you won’t’ believe in this’ it fails to deliver what it promises. It is driven at gaining revenue to its unloaders. A click bait generates web traffic which is of benefit to the small business owners. It is not a safe way of promoting an industry, many people who uses internet simply ignore them. They bring losses to the big firms and thus should be done away with (Riggins, pg 01). It is always better to avoid the click baits, they waist time whereby most of them do not deliver what they promise. They are so famous in internet for their disturbances to the internet users.
Social media is much interactive than reading newspaper. The answer is very simple the world is changing. Availability of internet enables many its users to have a free forum where they can access news easily and for free. Social media platform has a lot of users; this makes it possible for a news to spread much faster. The advancement in technology enables the internet users to spread an information easily (Erin, pg 12). The social media particularly Facebook is too addictive especially to the youths unless the old newspaper news, which are considered to be old media. From the above suggestions I strong hold the use of social media but let’s put a limit on the time we spent on social media.
Video games are more immense than other forms of content. Gaming particularly video games has huge range of funs, from kids to adults. Gaming is also fun to have around, it cheers and entertains as compared with other forms of contents. Video games also comes in many form and its everywhere, from music, sports, car racing. Gaming also offers a great chance for one to discover their passion, for instances ‘Transformers: age of extinction’ has brought a lot of connection to people who end ups discovering their capabilities in lives. Following its head start over forms of content, it is hard to compare it with them. Speaking a personal experience video games are too fun and should be enjoyed.
Filter bubbles pose no problem on the televisions. They feature mostly in internet especially in twitter and face book. Filter bubbles are only fake news without credited sources, television users should not worry about them. They only feature in online services, luckily televisions are not online oriented. The filter bubbles are not well studied and therefore pose no danger to television user. A higher percentage of people using televisions are not concerned with filter bubbles, they ignore them and this limit their effects (The Conversation, pg 11). Filter bubbles are not of much concern to the television viewers, they should be ignored since they do not have credited sources.
To conclude, i recommend the embrace of new technological advancement. We should have upheld shift paradigm because it is unavoidable. We should embrace changes and move on from analog to digital life. It is advisable that people should retain the old forms of communication but limit the non-effective ones.
