The Appropriate Data Analysis Techniques for the Study

The type of food eaten determines eating habits of individuals.

2. How DNA affects height.

Variables:

Independent: DNA

                 Dependent: Height

Hypothesis: The DNA of an individual has impact on tallness or shortness of a person.

Data Analysis

How Food affects Habits

The appropriate data analysis techniques for the study will be use of Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) package program. The general information relating to the subjects studied will be evaluated by use of frequency analysis while differences n eating habits and food preferences will be compared by use of t-test. The test will be for continuous variables and cross-correlation analysis for non-continuous variables. Verification of the results will be by chi-square tests with statistical significance of P<0.05. The statistical package, SPSS is important since it allows an analyst to key in data and performs various statistical tests including the t-test as well as draw graphs. The software is easy to learn, use, cost-friendly, and compatible with many personal computers (Park, Lee " Kim, 2015). Students and professional researchers find it important to use the analysis software as it can also accommodate large data. Using the software for this analysis will be of great value due to its reliability. SPSS is also quite fast in analyzing data with minimum errors and is suitable for quantitative and qualitative data. A T-test tests the significance for any difference between two group means. In the case of food habits, t-test will be important to test eating habits. For instance, children that are given a balanced diet at home tend to chose healthy foods even when they eat away from home. Those that tend to eat fast foods at home tend to eat them more even away from home such as restaurants.

2. How DNA affects Height.

Data analysis will involve statistical significance of the differences between groups by use of Fisher Exact Test using Simple Interactive Statistical Analysis (SISA). SISA is preferred site since it enables one to analyze data directly on the internet. The Fisher’s Exact Test procedures help in calculating the exact probability values for the relationship between the DNA and the heights (Simeone " Alberti, 2014). The program is effective for finding the differences between the observed and expected values depending in the assumptions of the model selected. Using the pooled DNA typing individual height will be analyzed by Fisher’s Exact Test using 2 × 2 contingency tables for every allele. The allele frequencies will be determined by dividing the height of each allele by the summed height of all the alleles. The Chi-square test will be used to assess SNPs genotyping and adult height (Simeone " Alberti, 2014). The test is very important for establishing a relationship between height and the DNA of individuals. It will enable the researcher to establish existence of any connecting between the two and make conclusions. The analysis procedure is simple to carryout using SPSS or online via SISA. Therefore, reliable results will be attained to help in relating the two and understand the role of human genetic makeup. The test will help in finding out the genomic loci linked to human height variation due to genetic factors. Tall parents are likely to give birth to tall children after passing their genes to the offspring.
