Martin Heidegger's Resignation
Martin Heidegger resigns as rector just one year after being appointed due to a confrontation between party officials and professors. He does not abandon the party, but he is not involved in its affairs. I don't believe Heidegger completely supported Hitler because he held conflicting political beliefs and even withdrew from the Nazi party despite his corporation and involvement in the party's operations.
Similarities Between Trump and Nazi Ideology
Right-wing leaders, such as Trump, have been remarked to bear a remarkable resemblance to Nazi ideology that arose in Europe. In evangelical methods, Trump employs the use of living theater of politics just as seen with Hitler, including a rhetorical assault on a live audience. Trump makes use of the media with full knowledge that the press will have a significant impact on every individual.
Differences in Emphasis and Political Ideologies
Another key similarity is the emotional strategy seen in US politicians and Nazi ideology exploiting the primal emotions associated with pride, fear, and anger. The differences come in where Nazism is emphasized on racism and rejects the idea of liberalism, Marxism, and democracy, whereas right-wing politicians in the United States believe in certain political ideologies and consider the state as a form of nationalism.
Plato's Allegory: Seeking the Truth
In Plato’s allegory, the people holding up the items producing the shadows that the prisoners see are the puppeteers who are behind the prisoners, holding up puppets that cast the shadows on the wall. One of the inmates manages to climb the wall and see the actual objects casting the shadows. He then calls out to the other prisoners to know the truth and get in step. The 'they' calling the American citizens to get in step are the prisoners who were stuck in the cave and did not want to see things from a different perspective.
