Taking this course has made a positive impact to my writing skills as the class has helped me to improve my writing skills, hence will help me to become a better writer in future. Additionally, I had a good professor who guided me during the process. I brainstormed the ideas for my topic, made several drafts, formed groups with my classmates for peer edits, and finally revised my writings into a final draft. I do not like group work, but the groups that we formed turned out to be beneficial since I was able to learn from my fellow students. I later learnt how to use rhetorical strategies such as ethos and logos to appeal to ethics and logic respectively.
I am now confident in my style of writing and can make sure a lot of people hear my voice through my writings. Also, I have a better understanding of citations: how, when, and where to cite sources. My teacher made sure I used the correct citation in MLA format, hence my work had no plagiarism and was well organized. Some of the essays that I wrote made me more creative, a good example of such is the Iraqi War.
Everything I have learnt during the experience will be more useful in the future because most of the work at college involves writing papers and reports, which means that what I have learnt is important and one of the necessary requirements that will help a student to achieve good grades. This has also prepared me in my future job career as I will be recording my daily activities and other reports or projects when necessary. Therefore, the skills acquired will be used both at school and in the future when working.
