It ranges from a short time to a long and depressed behaviors are sometimes, part of life. The groups of illnesses that are related to depressive behavior cause other ailments, such as lack of interests in activities, the depressed mood for long-term and aggressiveness.

The proposed thesis for this paper is:

Use of social media causes stress, loneliness, and mental illness. I will attempt to validate this argument by research studies and explore how negative effects of social media use causes stress.

The role of stress is huge for the mental illness issues. This issue has been spread at the global level and usually, youngsters, who spend most of the time on social media, are its victims. Stress causes depression also includes physical symptoms, and they persist for more than two weeks. People suffer from depression; tend to show aggressive behavior, anxiousness, empty mood, pessimism, feeling of hopelessness, fatigue, decreased interest in activities, poor decision making power and feel of guilt (Park et al., 2016). When a student uses excessive social media and experience depressing conditions, it may result in, oversleeping, restlessness, difficulty in sleeping, irritability and at extreme level suicidal attempts. Stress-related circumstances in life create the depression that may be temporary and permanent in complex conditions. In personal and social circles, a change in cognitive response indicates some mental issue, i.e. stress factors that cause depression.  This paper will discuss stress causes, and consequences. It will talk about pasts scholarly evidences that explored nature of stress and its influence on students and individuals on their daily practices (Park et al., 2016).

Literature Review

Stress effects body and mind. Stress creates ways that help body t respond in different situations. It is a biological response that is designed with body organs. The body becomes more responsive to stress than it is in normal condition. In cases, when the brain recognizes stress, hormonal response increases that create alertness. Cortisol and adrenaline increase heart rate and flow of blood toward muscles. The states of pressure are identified with the particular issues that happen being developed (Claessens et al., 2010). If an individual has encountered early distressing life and discouraged conditions, it might affect him further down in life. This effect emerges as animosity, psychosocially changed conduct and assortment in thinking. It can be seen from the examinations that online networking is connected specifically to human discernment, considering and included to a more profound degree in the way of life. The relationship between correspondence and positive working is just restricted that can swing to the negative side if unreasonable online networking occurs (Billings " Moos, 1981).

Many past studies have collected evidence for stress in life and its role in daily activities. This part of the paper is about a review of past studies that will discuss some peer-reviewed articles about stress.

Billings et al., (1980) in a research study about social resources and attenuating the role of stress in daily events described the prevalence of stress in life. The study provided that stress has critical role to influence people and that stressful life affects a large community. Life changing events harm individual’s physical, emotional, social and cognitive functioning and when stress plays its role, these effects become greater. The stressful effects in life tend to influence daily functioning, and a life adjustment is needed. This adjustment is attributable to controllability, predictability, desirability, and attainment. The study provided the scope of measurement and its coping behavior with the attempts of individuals. The conceptual frameworks for the daily events are related to a complex set of processes that direct individuals towards coping responses. The research article has studied the effects of stress in different individuals and estimated the difference in moods and behavior. The role of social resources was employed to measure the coping of behavior and its adjustment with the personal functioning. It is reflected that there is a difference in responses, whether it is male and female. The symptoms in moods and behavior are related to the same level of stress that occurred due to different social issues.

Nejati (2017) in a research article discussed the effect of the use of social media on stress level that students attain. It is related to anxiety. The study provided that there is a strong effect of every kind of technological transformation in society. This effect is directly linked to the life of human being, no matter in positive or negative ways. The role of technical transformation in society is linked to stress, depression, and anxiety. It is affecting people, who are directly involved in its usage. The social effect of media and technology is negative for mental conditions, cerates stress and depression.

The study investigated the effect of social media and technical transformation on psychology. This is mainly a condition of mental illness, i.e., stress and anxiety. It categorized the individuals who are directly affected by social media and type of activities they are involved. The study found out that increased use of computers and internet has increased the sharing of information. This increased form of usage was dynamically effecting mind of individuals and impacting on body conditions in the form of stress. The findings of study reflected that social media use, its frequency and time spent are main variables that cause stress and anxiety in students.

Kloet et al., (2010) in a research article explored the stress responsiveness in individuals that are directly related to the life experiences. The study described the human epidemiology and role of stress in life. It is related to development aspects of life because human environment and genes are main factors that influenced through stress that a person faces in early life. The main point of the study was to investigate the impact of early life on later development of an individual. It provided that there is a different level of stress responsiveness due to events. The impact of early life and stress conditions influences development conditions in various forms. The study undertook an experimental approach to define the role of stress in life.

From the study, it is investigated that early life has powerful impacts that are linked to the stress phenotypes. These effects do not reflect symptoms always bit heterogeneity is a response condition that occurs due to the difference in genetic conditions. There are non-shared experiences in life that have been occurred in early life, and they transformed to next generation’s phenotype. It can be seen that early experiences in life are attributable to environmental conditions and genetic factors that are intrinsic to support the conditions of stress.

Stress plays a critical role in shaping thinking and cognitive functioning. It can be seen from the scholarly summaries that stress and anxiety create a depression that influences students and individuals. The main reasons for stress and depression are involvement in social life to a large extent. The technical transformation also influences brain and its activities (Claessens et al., 2010). Excessive usage of social media has the negative impact on brain and hormones. The conditions of stress are related to the specific issues that occur in development. If an individual has experienced early stressful life and depressed conditions, it may impact him later in life. This impact arises in the form of aggression, psychosocially transformed behavior and variety in attitude. It can be seen from the studies that social media is linked directly to human perception, thinking and involved to a deeper extent in lifestyle. The association between communication and positive functioning is only limited that can turn to negative side, if excessive social media usage occurs  (Ajilchi " Nejati, 2017).

Conclusion

The paper about stress and its related conditions tend to provide a theoretical framework for social life and individual conditions. The impact of social media on the life of students and their mental illness is considered in the paper. It is validated through different sources and research articles. It is clear to see that social media has a huge influence on human brain and make a person responsive to the unexpected conditions. Stress is related to anxiety and depression, and these are enemies of a peaceful mind. If a person has experienced stressful conditions in childhood, it has a negative effect on its mind and will occur in future. The change in attitude occurs in the form of aggressive attitude, psychological complications, and isolation.

The presence of stress in youth is due to internet addiction, excessive use of internet and experiencing negative social life. The harmful consequences of stress lead to isolation, depression, academic failure, parental disaccord, or financial issues. Social issues are influential when analyzed in the form of welfare. Many social issues, family terms, and friends’ relations can be the cause of stress and anxiety.  The societal dilemma in the form of mental illness is harmful and creating negative spillovers on students and their lives.
