Rationale for the Specific Needs in the Designed Budget
In order to maintain a comfortable living environment at the elderly home care, the outlined resources are essential. First, the premises must be reserved, and since the organization does not currently own one, there is the need to rent a suitable one. With the location being away from the city, the rent is expected to be relatively low especially for a sizeable house needed to accommodate the residents. The house must then be repaired and renovated in readiness for habitation. Due to the condition of the residents, the bathrooms are expected to have assistive devices such as shower seats, grab bars and walk-in tubs. For the bedrooms, bed trays, pillows, rails and mattress covers are required. Other equipment to facilitate mobility for older adults is also required in the program. These include walkers, ramps, wheel chairs, and canes. Finally, the program requires safety products such as security devices and equipment will also be required in the program. Vision and hearing aids will also be necessary. Such devices include amplified phones to be used by older adults.
The welfare of the residents includes taking care of their dental health as well as general body fitness. As a result, the program is expected to have an exercise and fitness center, it is essential for comprehensive fitness gear besides the required fitness equipment.
The need for the program to deliver oral and dental healthcare services requires the acquisition of health and medical supplies including daily oral care accessories. These include toothbrushes, toothpaste, dental floss, mouth wash and other necessary supplies. For the educational and literacy processes, there may be the need to acquire printed literature for the same as well as visual aids such as television sets, projectors, video or DVD players, and sound amplifiers. For other health services, the center shall provide the older adults with a home-like environment that provides an opportunity to exercise, nutritional meals, dental care and nutritional training. Also, the facility is expected to deliver oral and dental health services such as tooth extraction, crowns and fill in.
To successfully offer the services to the residents, the center requires managerial as well as operational staff. The administration staff who will include the center managers, human resource operators, accountants and center administrators will see to the policy and decision making roles of the center. On the other hand, those taking care of the day to day operations of caring for the needs of the residents include dentists, dental care assistants, caregivers, licensed vocational nurses, certified nursing assistants, physical therapists, registered nurses, dieticians and nutritionists. Salaries for all the staff must be put into account, and should be in line with the legal labor law requirements of the country.
Running day to day operations of the center requires numerous amounts of personal supplies for the residents. These include food items, personal hygiene provisions, all types clothes especially warm clothes due to the fragile nature of the residents, and general supplies which include detergents for cleaning the premises among others. With all these above needs met, the center is bound to run smoothly, performing all mandated duties which include providing;
health literacy and access to basic primary care
recreational and oral health
dental professionals- identifying poor nutrition, diseases occurrence, the onset of new infections, immunity disorders and recommend treatment for those in need of palliative care
promoting health education
electronic medical records
implementation of optical coherence tomography that will promote early detection of dental caries
