The result is that all the stakeholders will have been satisfied with the institution's services. This ambitious nature builds motivation of achieving something reasonable. The purpose of writing this essay is to show the various foundations for professional success.Professionalism is a state of personal satisfaction of being in a particular class and level in a particular setting. Professional success dramatically benefits both the individual and the organization where he or she is working. As a result, best results are achieved, and additional corrective measures are avoided hence creating more time in constructive activities of building an organization. Personal development is also enhanced through the continued improvement in a given direction. Professional success must be rooted in best foundations in various aspects that positively build a person or an organization.Organizational citizenshipOrganizational citizenship is a person's voluntary commitment to an organization by doing tasks that are not part of the contracted duties. An excellent organizational citizen is someone who helps the other in accomplishing his or her functions with no intention of being compensated (Barke, 2007). This topic has equipped me with the knowledge of the organizational culture. As an employee, I have been educated on the ways of recognizing diverse cultures at the workplace and finding the best way of working together without showing any differences. The knowledge of employee harmony has enabled me to recognize the importance of having a close attachment to my organization. I have been able to perform other tasks not included in my contract thereby improving on my relationship with other employees and the management. In many instances, I have helped my colleagues to perform their duties where they are having difficulties. My active involvement in helping others has significantly raised organizational citizenship from other employees thereby increasing our corporate performance.Communication in the workplaceCommunication in the workplace is the process of information exchange of both nonverbal and verbal within an institution. This type of communication may be formal or informal. Informal communication mostly exists among the employees, while discussing their issues. The primary form of informal communication is a grapevine. On the other hand, formal communication takes place between the employees and the management. In most cases, there are groups in the organization with different cultural backgrounds, ideologies and even levels. Communication within these groups tends to differ from one group to the other. Therefore, there is a great need for one to understand all these diversities for effective communication to be achieved. The information learned on workplace communication has helped me know how to communicate with people of different backgrounds and ideologies.Performance of my duties has been enhanced by understanding the best way I approach different groups in the workplace. Intra and intergroup communication have exposed me to the knowledge of the shared resources and diversities. In return, the performance of my duties has improved. All the organizational groups are interdependent to each other hence the high need for harmony in the execution of duties. Socialization within my team and with other groups has continuously enabled me to understand the importance of working together as one family. Harmony within the workplace has brought about improvement in service delivery and overall growth of the business.Decision makingAbility to amicably solve problems forms a strong foundation of professional success. Any situation needs a correct decision to achieve the best results. Therefore, people concerned need to have a potential of correct engaging decision making for accurate judgment of situations. Various principles must guide one to be successful in making the right and timely decisions (Allwood, 2010). Some of the principles include framing of decisions, classification of decisions, and decision making steps. All these principles must be in mind for a definitive judgment to be arrived at.Framing a decision forms the basis of arriving at a corrective answer. Decision-making frames are the maps or guidelines used by the decision makers to act as a guide in the process. The frame builds boundaries and constraints of the actual decision-making process and may have consequences on the results. This stage has helped me to have a full examination of all the issues I encounter at the workplace, feasible options and the available information that can aid in coming up with a right decision. The framing of the decision also has assisted me in setting a basis for making good alternatives. The frames have highly been useful during the decision making in many ways. First, they provide a clear picture of the problem to be solved. Secondly, the frames establish the decision options. Thirdly, it improves the efficiency of the process by determining information and issues to be omitted. Fourth, the frame help in determining the possible consequences of the decision to be achieved and finally it helps a decision maker to choose a practical course of action. Through following the correct guidelines of building up a frame, I have been able to achieve best results.By having a clear decision frame, I have been able to avoid various mistakes commonly made by most decision makers. I have put multiple measures in place to get a correct interpretation of situations before arriving at a preferable decision. Having a decision frame is itself one of the measures because the frame aids in the provision of guidelines for making a better solution. I have also been able to avoid possible biases in determining the expected outcomes, avoiding questioning unknowns, ignoring negative opinions, the inclusion of a big number of different views and finally ensuring that reliable and current data is used. Strict adherence to these measures has improved the decision-making process and thereby increasing professionalism. All decision making bodies and individuals are thus under an obligation to ensure that framing is undertaken before drawing down a conclusion. Therefore, all the decision-making agencies must ensure that all the necessary information is available and correct judgment made before coming up with a decision. For instance, I have been enabled to follow all the ten steps that are used for effective decision making. The steps are, determining decision type, itemizing options, gathering information, avoiding biases, prioritizing issues, being timely, evaluating data accuracy, evaluating options, making the decision and finally seeing the decision through. These steps have helped me to tackle all issues related to the problem hence building up enough information to aid decision making.Problem solvingProblem-solving is the process of working through the available options of a problem to get a specific solution. The process may include systematic operations or mathematical and may act as a gauge of an individual (Robertson, 2014). Every person naturally has been in a state of requiring a solution to a certain problem. The problem may be on an individual basis, among a small group of people or by a large population of people. Especially, in an organization, there may be personal and group problems which in many instances affect the optimal performance of the assigned tasks. It is, therefore, necessary that before one embarks in getting a solution to any ailing problem, correct steps are followed. First, a definition of the problem through diagnosing the situation to focus on the issue itself and not the symptoms. Second, evaluation of the problem whereby options are separated. Third, generating alternative solutions to improve the value of the final solution. Fourth, selecting a solution by considering that all the individuals involved accept the alternative, the implementation of the option being likely and that the choice fits within the organizational constraints. Fifth, selecting a solution from the available options by taking the best of all. Sixth, implementation of the solution through involving all those whom the answer will have to cause an impact (Robertson, 2014). Strict adherence to the six steps has enlightened me in solving problems amicably while ensuring minimal or no resistance to any possible changes.Teams should identify all the stages when searching for the solution. In ensuring successful teamwork, I have continually engaged all the team members on all the four steps of solving problems. The stages are; forming, storming, norming and performing. During the forming phase, the team examines the problem and build an understanding of the issues related to it. After forming, conflicts may arise due to the individual differences within the group. These conflicts make up storming stage whereby different views emerge on how the problem will be solved. In many instances, my team jumps into arguing on the solutions before even reaching on agreeing on the issue. This often prompts me to persuade the team members to revisit the problem definition stage for a correct understanding of the matter in question. Norming stage is characterized by the decision of the team developing methods for analyzing the problem, generating alternatives and coming up with a solution.Workplace ethicsEthics are the moral guiding principles that guide a person into acting according to the society's expectations. Workplace ethics are codes and conducts that guide the development of ethical practices within an organization. Having an ethical behavior is a personal initiative of choosing to act acceptably. Also, one is not guided by any law to work ethically. An institution that has high employee ethical behaviors usually attracts a good reputation from the environment (Gambrill, 2014). This lesson has raised my workplace behavior in several ways.Workplace harmony has been enhanced through my actions. In many instances, I have taken the lead in supporting our work policy on safety in the workplace. Most of the other employees are not well informed on the importance of having a safe working place. My efforts have enabled many people to be more cautious in executing their duties hence protecting themselves from any possible harm. I have also learned that all our customers should be treated in a fair manner regardless of their status. The equal treatment has raised confidence from many customers and other stakeholders who have found it better to associate with all our products.Giving and receiving feedbackFeedback is the information provided or received about the reactions to a person's performance of a task or a product for improvement. Comments that one gets from other people concerning the performance of a particular duty greatly help the performer to know areas where development or reinforcement are needed. Therefore, feedback from other employees usually has an impact on one's execution of duties (Grant, 2017). Every individual's feedback must be considered to receive a variety of views on the best way of either improving on a specific work or maintaining the standards of performance. I have learned to be actively involved in giving comments to my fellow employees on their duties at the same time positively accepting all the comments received. Active giving and receiving of comments about other workers' performance have enabled me to learn more about areas where I don't perform well. Other areas that I have improved are increased speed of my work, efficiency in the execution of duties, and knowledge of the diverse market.Workplace collaborationCollaboration is the action of working together to produce something. Collaboration exists where two or more members of a group decide to work together pursuing a similar goal by sharing their skills and ideas. Any organization must ensure that all its employees practice teamwork for it to be successful. Collaboration enhances teamwork efforts in the workplace hence improve employee harmony. It gives equal opportunities to all members of a specific team thereby increasing chances for growth by all. Working together as a team has helped me to recognize my strengths and weaknesses leading to a resultant improvement on the weaker areas. Teamwork has also given me the chance to work together on a common platform with other employees. The harmony has enabled us to achieve organizational goals through offering various perspective on how to perform specific duties better. Working towards making a similar goal within the team has given me a strong sense of purpose. I have been able to own all the responsibilities assigned hence improved on my delivery.ConclusionProfessional success must be rooted in proper foundations in all areas that influence the performance of duties. One must ensure that appropriate communication is practiced depending on the situation and the intended recipient. Efficiency in communications helps one to share freely within the workplace. The Proper discussion will, in turn, lead to the creation of teams where collaboration is built for efficient execution of duties. Teams have a responsibility of making proper decisions by following all the steps. The decisions made touches on all the aspects of running the organization including the acceptable standards of performance. Appropriate standards build good work ethics which is copied by all the employees. Presence of ethics at the workplace generates a defined way of working thus creating an organizational culture. However, there is a diversity of cultures at the workplace from all the employees. A proper way of addressing diversities is through having an active feedback system among the employees. Any person longing to achieve professional success must possess all the foundations discussed herein.ReferencesAllwood, C. M., & Selart, M. (2010). Decision Making.
