My Goals Essay

This paper explains the past events in my life, present situation and aspired future. It also explains what has been part of my life, short and long-term goals. My first goal is to establish excellent communication with my daughter. This goal is important because it gives a sense of identity to the family. The second goal is improving my communication skills. It is important for sme to be able to communicate effectively with people in general. Lastly, by being a good mother, I would be able to build a strong bond with my daughter. Strategic approaches are taken to achieve each goal discussed. The supporting steps highlighting specific instances emerging from class conversations are also explained in details. My role, deeds and words towards the people are highlighted. The subjects’ response and feelings are also explained.

I treasure my family than any other thing in this world. I have become more self-assertive. It has come to my realization that my time is limited to properly balance my school life, work and relationships with the family. My main goal is to communicate better with my significant other and being a first-time mom, to communicate clearly with my daughter. This has been achieved by talking to my husband more often about how we feel about our family situations. Clarity in communication is important in achieving this goal. A stronger and healthier relationship with my husband will be a foundation for building a happy family. Statistically, there exists a strong positive relationship between communication and family relationship (Adler and Proctor 333). To add something of value to this world, I would love to be the best woman I can be. In the long run, I would like to participate in social responsibilities activities to uplift the lives of people by volunteering in community outreach projects. I have a passion for the youth volunteer mentorship program that advocates on improving academic and developmental mentorship. Through my inspirational and public speaking skills that have been acquired through education, I would advocate for a positive change in attitude among girls and improving their lives. I would be a role model to the girls and my young daughter. Now I am sharpening on my skills through further education to enable me to play this noble role. My actions make me feel happy as I move closer to achieving this goal.

The second goal is to improve communication skills with people around me in general. I have a role in uplifting the lives of other people with an aim of making the world a better place and forms the basis of my third goal. I believe people and I believe in people. Our self-identity is revealed when we interact with other people. The reactions from them enable us to know whether we are intelligent, skilful or attractive or not. The physical health is influenced by the absence and presence of communication (Adler and Proctor 5). Pleasure and affection are the social needs that are enjoyed when people communicate effectively. The others will also give a positive response. For instance, companionship makes people have a more fulfilled life. People get relieved from stress and loneliness by conversing with the loved ones. Contrarily, through my research and class discussions, it is evident that there are not many people I can trust. Sometimes it creates problems when I believe all people. It doesn’t mean to stop trusting, but be more cautious about who is around me. Not all people need quality communication and contact in relationships. The consequence of unsatisfied personal relationships is bitterness and mistrust (Carey 18). I constantly improve my communication skills to communicate effectively with people. The support I receive from my family and society encourages me to continue working towards my goal.

The third goal is to be a good mother to my daughter. It is of great significance that I have learned how to communicate with her. A better understanding of her has enabled us to build a strong bond towards us. This would take quality time together; being there for her no matter what, being supportive and caring. In the book Looking Out Looking In by Adler and Proctor (2016), it is stated that healthy relationships eliminate health threats and mental hospitalization. For instance, individuals with positive family ties live a healthier life than the isolated counterparts who are prone to coronary health problems. By loving my daughter, we build an intrinsically rewarding relationship that is unique and irreplaceable. We together will be able to achieve instrumental goals through communication. This would be a positive response from my daughter. My feeling now that I am well equipped with skills to brush off depression and anger and attract positive energy.

Conclusion

My main goals are building a good relationship with my daughter, improving my communication skills and strive to be the best mother in the world. It has come to my realization that from now on, I have to use the knowledge and skills learnt in this class to improve my family relationship and better my social life. This is also a better way to achieve my personal goals since these I am able to re-think and set smart goals in life. I am close to achieving my goals.
