The author promises in her autobiography to utilize a personal experience in her narrative in the book, the wife of Bath's epilog and tale. According to a woman of Bath, the majority of real-life situations and how churchmen handled their wives are imitated. According to her research, the author tries to explain most couples' confessions and their former lives in their marriage. This mid-century myth recounts some of Bath's wife's marriages, and according to the book, she had multiple spouses. Her theme in the book is power.
The Miller's Tale
In this tale, the Millers Tale is the story of a carpenter who is married and some two students who were so interested in having sex with him. In his book, he tries to explain by referring negatively to other carpenters how they all have been involved in marriage infidelity.
Comparison of ideas between the middle age and the current culture
According to these two tales both tries to explain how life is full of cheating more so in the marriages. Couples both men and women are involved in this infidelities that at the long run ruins there previously proclaimed happy marriages.
Fidelity in Marriages
Fidelity in marriages is the act of being so faithful to your partner in their marriage life. According to these two tales, the taboo against cheating is strong that whoever has been involved before has viewed it as wrong and evil. How marriages in the middle ages compare with those in our cultures; firstly, marriages in the middle ages were done by an arrangement that involved parental arrangements and arrangement of wedding days were also done by them compared to our present cultures in which marriage is an agreement between the parties to marry. Secondly, in the middle ages, the wedding took place outside the church door before entering the church door whereas the present days it is done fully in the church premises. Thirdly, in the middle ages, sex before marriage was considered fornication whereas though still viewed so in our cultures it has been practiced and encouraged by both scientifical research and parenthood. Forth in the middle age marriage amongst couples was considered a family or a community affair that was so involving and highly appreciated whereas in our present cultures wedding can be done anywhere so long as it is lawful without interruption of both family and community that it is not a mandatory to involve them. Lastly, in the middle age, they mostly supported polygamy, a culture that majorly helped to reduce infidelity amongst couples. It was highly appreciated as in most instances it enhanced the status of the polygamist, but in comparison to the present day activities most women feel not appreciated regarding polygamy, and this has resulted in many unfaithful marriages this act has thereby been a promoter of infidelity in most marriages.
Conclusion
In conclusion, According to these two books that both clearly brings about the comparison between the present day to day activity regarding marriages and the middle age marriages, there is a clear distinction in the behavior of couples and at what instances couples we involved in unfaithful marriages. In my view to concluding with, infidelity in marriages for both middle age and our present society has come about due to dissatisfaction in marriages. One can, therefore, argue that infidelity witnessed in most marriages is as a result of lack of trueness amongst married couples.
