Newton's Behavior and Potential Downfall


Newton is a troublesome employee in this scenario, in my opinion. He is a problematic employee since he frequently violates several fourteenth amendment rights. First, it is true that he is required to exercise his liberty under the clause. At the same time, as a citizen, he has the right to express himself. His sarcasm in quoting the contexts of his freedom and rights, on the other hand, conveys an image of intent to generate issues and disharmony among the other officials as well as the public. Newton posits a character that wants to interfere with the normal flow of duties between the management and the other officers in the field as well as other employees without considering the aftermath of his decisions in the long run.


The expression of such characters within the work environment may affect the performance of other officers in the same situation. Similarly, the content of Newton's tattoos indicates aspects of sexuality that may infringe the rights of other workers in the same setting. Interestingly, he uses the legal contexts to blackmail colleagues and other staff members without caring whether they are willing to continue working with him or not. When one tends to behave in a manner that does not recognize the perceptions of others around you, it becomes evident that such personalities do not value the role of cultural diversity of such institutions (Jacob, Decker, & Lugg, 2016). Thus, he presents potential downfall of the organization if the case is not solved within time. The current situation portrays Newton's actions as self-directed and full of egocentric behavior in this culture. If allowed to continue in the same environment without consideration then the city might encounter a significant disruption in the average quality of services offered to the town. I do not think I would compromise the quality of our service-delivery because of the actions of a single individual set to destroy the reputation of the entire service squad in the segment.

Taking disciplinary actions against employees and other staff members may be one of the most stringent steps in the work environment. An excellent disciplinary action requires an inclusive approach to help the victim understand the concerns about his or her effects in the same context. Therefore, I would consider a procedural mechanism to punish. It would be appropriate to make him understand the impacts of his activities within the work environment as well as how they affect the other officers in this community. Thus, I would start by advising Newton to wear clothes that will cover the tattoos if they are permanent and or do away with the symbols if they are not stable. Secondly, I would monitor his response to the recommendations for a given period such as one week. If there are no responses to the recommendations, then it would appropriate to issue a warning letter to him. At this stage, the warning will stipulate that Newton should get rid of the tattoos or wear uniforms that will not expose any of the symbols to other officers and the public to avoid the rising cases of alarm among the others in the stations. Warning notices may serve to give employees chances to change and adhere to ethical conducts in the work atmosphere. However, in case of persistence, it would be suitable to suspend Newton from his station and allow him to stay away from work for a month without pay so that he can reform and identify his mistakes while apart from the rest of the officers. In many circumstances, suspensions inflict a positive change in the behavior of workers in numerous ways. Nonetheless, if such disciplinary actions fail to bear fruit upon the recall of Newton, it would be necessary to terminate his contract as an officer in the city because his stay with the team may cause a long-term problem within the institutions (Sweeten, 2016). These essential disciplinary steps will help in reforming Newton to understand that his actions might affect the progress of the other officers so that he does not keep on neglect the comments of the other employees in future.

The primary ramification to be aware of while taking disciplinary steps involves the legal frameworks on workers' rights and the impacts created in every step of the actions. At the same time, the policies in play should seek to promote an organizational unit within the cultures. It is ethical for the officer to act in manners that respect the boundaries of various cultures in the society. Diversity is a common aspect of humanity. It should help in shaping the conduct of every member of the same community in their quest to accomplish the self-initiated demands in the society (Jacob, Decker, & Lugg, 2016). Likewise, we need to understand the boundaries of operation within the police segment as laid down in the standards of work. I would be keen to understand and follow the rules of practice stated in the codes of conduct and dressing within the sectors.
