Also, from the lesson material, it is evident that women also suffer more from depression than men due to psychological reasons. For instance, women are psychologically more thoughtful than men. Meaning, women tend to think about more things than men, especially during difficult times, a practice which predisposes them to depression development. In contrast, men tend to respond to difficult situations with anger, stoicism, and substance misuse, which relieves them from depression. Women are also considered to invest more of their feelings and emotions in relationships than men. Therefore, relationship issues are likely to affect women at a higher degree than men, and so women are more likely than men to develop depression.

Women have several responsibilities compared men, which predisposes them to depression. Apart from going to work like men, women have additional roles relating to home maintenance, child-rearing, and taking care of other family members, especially the older relative.
