XYZ Company: Establishing a Safety Culture


XYZ Company stands for the establishment of a safety culture. The objective is to establish a pleasant working attitude that will increase job efficiency while lowering unavoidable expenditures. XYZ organization will spot weaknesses and control them through completing safety analysis for every job and presenting the hazards.


Measures to Comply with OSHA Safety Regulations


Complying with OSHA safety regulations will encompass prevention of common hazards in the workplace. Proper housekeeping will be introduced in the company. The cluster is blocking fire exists, an emergency exists, and other important housekeeping factors will be addressed by XYZ company. Mount of slips will be limited to putting measures to avoid leaks, cluster and standing water that is likely to make people fall (Burke et al., 2011). Faulty equipment that could lead to failures will be checked and replaced to enable works proper execution of duties with efficiency and thus avoid unnecessary costs. All the chemicals used in the company will be put at a designated place and tightened to avoid spills that could culminate into hazards. Furthermore, the keeping of the inventory products will facilitate easy management of resources. Moreover, in attempts to abide by OSHA regulations, confined spaces which present some hazards will be eliminated (Fourie, & Loggerenberg, 2006). Tragedies involving confined spaces affect many employees and therefore carrying out of risk assessments to comply with the guidelines stipulated will be a priority. This will help to highlight the areas that are highly disposed to hazardous factors and therefore guide decision-making on safety culture. First aid equipment and trained helpers will be equipped by the company. The kits will be placed close to areas that are prone to high risk of illness and injuries. Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as ear plugs, goggles, safety shoes, and sunscreen will be useful in controlling injuries.

Module 1: Introduction to General Safety and Health Provisions


XYZ Company is committed to safety culture and compliance with the OSHA safety standard regulations for the well-being of the employees. Members are expected to provide support and develop safety environment through complying with the procedures and policies that guide the safety culture. The supervisory staff and all management are responsible for safety performance in the company and should ensure that the company programs promote the safety of the workers. Occupational and Environmental Safety (OES) services will institute routine along with special risk and health appraisals to help the department safety committees in developing intra-departmental safety programs. Employees are also expected to follow the safety standards through wearing the prescribed PPE and reporting cases that present risks in their jobs.


Module 2: Hazard Communication Standard (HCS)


HCS requires every manager and supervisor in the company to establish programs of communicating with the workers concerning hazards associated in the workplace. The program will contain five basic elements including:


1. Documentation of Written Hazard Communication Program


2. Identification and maintaining an inventory of hazardous chemicals


3. Acquiring and maintain material safety data sheets on the hazards identified


4. Warranting that the risk materials are labeled with name and hazard


5. Training of workers on the safety standard, providing information, labeling and protective measures.


Module 3: Housekeeping and First Aid Training


Proper housekeeping helps in elimination of workplace hazards and gets the job done appropriately. The importance of keeping tidy housekeeping and the common accidents associated with the company will be identified. Benefits of effective housekeeping program as well as planning a housekeeping program will be critical to this training module. Elements of a housekeeping program such as dust and dirt removal, walking and working surfaces, waste disposals, and equipment will be emphasized during the training process.
