The Concept of Coaching Adolescents
The concept of coaching adolescents is not new to me because I too received coaching during that stage of my life. What strikes me the most from the readings is the idea that the emotional health of children affects their character. A child’s emotional stability affects his or her perception of crime, sexuality, and treatment of others (Whitten, 2009b). As a result, it becomes imperative for all children to receive coaching during this stage of life. Such moves serve to help them grow emotionally strong and enable them to go through different situations in life. The adolescent stage comes with lots of confusion and peer pressure, meaning that a child trying to match his or her mates might be prone to making mistakes (Whitten, 2009). Guidance and coaching from the elderly go a long way in making sure that such children grow well in a properly monitored environment.
Self-Esteem and Success at Work
Self-esteem refers to how individuals think about themselves and the belief that they can actually achieve their purpose in life. At work, any person needs to have the right mentality and belief in himself or herself to succeed. In my case, there have been instances when I felt as though I was not the right person to complete certain tasks and for sure, the result was not worthwhile. In this reading, self-esteem receives top priority and the text advises readers to believe in themselves. These claims rely on the fact that employees even receive motivation in the form of bonuses just to make sure that they remain inspired at work (Neenan, 2018). Self-esteem has a direct relation to the mentality one brings to work, affecting how one thinks at work and the amount of love they have for their tasks.
