As a speaker, one can research more about their audience so that he becomes audience-centered. The more one knows about their audience, the more they know what to say to the audience or how to interact with them and make them resonate with whatever the speaker is saying. An effective speaker will choose a topic that his audience desires to listen to, which works towards making the audience more involved in the presentation. In this regard, the understanding of the receiver/ audience is what motivates an audience-centered speaker.
One way that a speaker can analyze an audience is knowing their makeup. Audiences differ in regard to the individuals that are part of the audience as well as the role that they play in the audience. By analyzing an audience, the speaker will be able to effectively adapt to them and embrace whatever it is that the audience desires. In class, this will help me in presenting any information to my peers. Because I am well acquainted with this audience, I will be able to tell which points to address as well as how to reach them at a more personal level.
Ted's talk on public speaking can help my presence in that it helps me be more confident as I approach my audience. When one is confident, their presence is felt by the audience who at once will respond with listening attentively to whatever is to be said. The information that I can take from this video and use it in my speeches is the importance of having a concrete idea when delivering a speech. The speaker's task is transferring an idea to the minds of the listeners (Ted). In this regard, the speaker ought to be well versed with the subject he is speaking on so that he can transfer a concrete idea to the audience.
