The Importance of Media Literacy
The ability to create, analyze, evaluate, access and evaluate media messages of all kinds is called Media Literacy. Today's world people get their statistics in the form of sounds, text and images. We require the ability to understand the different media messages that we see every day, and to express our thoughts and ideas using the diverse technologies and broadcasting tools. The intensity and presence of communication materials such as; radio, television, computers, videos, films and the internet are a significant fragment of the social ecology of youth and children. Exposure to different sources of media has a substantial effect on the individuals in contact.
Influence of Media on Childhood
Growing up in the twentieth century was a time of technological advances that I was witnessing, the magazines, comic books and children's cartoon network television programs that influence my actions. My mother used to tell me that watching cartoons will improve my creativity in school as I could be able to produce practically what the characters in the comic were doing. In my kindergarten, I remember my mother sitting me down in front of the television to watch daffy duck episodes and children's educational programs like the spelling of English words which has helped me up to today. In my second great, I used to love a television program called Superman, the character, Clark Kent was so strong that he could lift twenty tones with his hands. Sometimes during class, my mind would drift, and I would imagine being that strong and beat the fifth-grade students that were bullying me.
The Impact of Media on Personal Development
Today, it is easy to know the incidence that is happening around the world, live feed and recorded. Media has educated me on my fundamental rights as an American Citizen and how to use them. I still have bad dreams of watching certain TV televisions, my friends inform me I do talk in my sleep, and it scares me. The romantic scenes in the programs have a significance to how I think, and the concept of watching actors masturbating while performing is making me not to pursue theatre and acting. Going out with my friends for dinner, I do try the new manufactured food from watching broadcasts.
My Fascination with Communication Technology
I was watching a television show called Garfield, and I fell asleep at the couch, waking up to the sound of the ringing phone and usually my mother or my babysitter, Briana would receive the call, but they were not around to do it. I was three years old, and I remember how conversing on the phone was terrific. The ability to communicate with my dad and not being able to see him physically was excellent, since that conversation I have always been fascinated with phones, the concept of how they work and the technology in it. I did ask for my cell phone at an early age, but l received it when I was thirteen years old. The phone made my life interesting since I could communicate with my friends any time and look for information on the internet.
The Role of Media in My Daily Life
I spend most of my time on my phone, taking pictures with my friends, uploading them on social media such as Instagram, Facebook, twitter the cloud. If I am not following celebrities on press am on the phone chatting with my friends on Snapchat or skype. Only when am in class, dinner with my parents, in church, doing my assignment, and when am sleeping because of the fatigue of not getting rest.
The Impact and Limitations of Media on Society
In conclusion, technology and media have a lot of impact towards a child as they are growing and to teenagers and youths. Exposing children to adult programs while they are still young can empire their judgement towards life as they grow. Media can be of value especially during emergencies to call for assistance and to pass critical information like a warning to other people. Cell phones are good but how the user decides to use it can be of significance to them and the society. Threatening someone or using it to spread rumors that are not true about other people is wrongful doing. Broadcasting materials are useful to the people in the community but should have a limitation on how to be used.
