A section of the community may mistakenly believe that it is the dominant group in the area as a result of gender inequality. Based on their gender, these individuals are treated differently. However, there are some generalizations made about the kinds of responsibilities these individuals must carry out in society. The practices of gender inequality have frequently continued to be a hindrance to a region's growth. In contrast, women and girls have come a long way since the 1990s, but they still haven't achieved the ideal of gender equity. For instances, these groups of people are often discriminated against health, education, and employment opportunities in the regions that they live. They are then left with the option of executing related labor activities and receive relatively little pay in relation to the duties that they are executing. According to a report by Petroff (3), no country has had achieved gender parity when it comes to economic opportunities and works. The context further means that women in the entire world are paid lesser incomes and also have relatively fewer opportunities at work compared to their male counterparts. In some countries, improvement is being witnessed with the intentions of attaining developmental programs that will lead to an improved economy.
In Saudi Arabia
The type of laws implemented in the country hardly consider the context of gender equality as the male population is considered as the dominant figure in the community. The ladies are left to receive directives from the male and also have no chances of providing suggestions to the duties that they are being asked to execute. To a different person’s view, the female population in the country are treated as slaves and asked to execute activities related to the directives that have been offered by their male counterparts or the law implemented in the country. There are a series of amendments that are being implemented being the country to enable the practices of gender equality in the country. The United Nations has however announced that Saudi Arabia is joining the commission on the status of women in the country. The moving target the acts of changing the way of living that the female population is experiencing (Hussain 2). Nevertheless, the inter-governmental body is dedicated to the acts of promoting gender equality in the region and also empowering the female population.
According to the rankings executed by the United Nations in relation to women liberations, Saudi Arabia stands at 141/144 in the World Economic Forum of the year 2016 (Hussain 3). The Global Gender Report done by the United Nations demonstrates that Saudi Arabia is ranked third from the bottom. Therefore, there are relatively poor conditions that the female population is experiencing in the region thus a cry to improve these ways of life to match the lifestyle that other women are experiencing in the other countries. In the long run, Saudi Arabia will register significant economic development with the female population involved in the economic activities of the country. According to a publication by Rasheed (187), some female doctors like Al-Jawhara is among the mosaic, but she will have to move to a region knows ad Alysha where the population is experiencing a different setting.
Inequality in relation to rights
An individual may want to make an inquiry with regards to the concept of equal rights in the country. In certain regions of the country, the female population is not allowed to implement activities that are being done by the male counterparts. For example, the women in the country are not allowed to drive vehicles and will always have to adhere to a particular way of dressing. In the Western Culture, these practices can be interpreted as an act of violating an individual’s rights to execute their activities in society (Hudson and Leidl 92). In the long run, the female population is left with a limited level of exposures compared t the other female populations in the world. Nevertheless, the only option left is to flee the country and enter regions that will support their demand in life. In case of any difficulties to escape into a more private region, the female population will then be subjected to aspects of slavery with no party willing to fight for their rights/recognition.
According to an elaboration by Rasheed (3), the female population the country is expected to wear a full Hijab with the eyes only considered to be visible. Additionally, there are strict policies of segregation in the public places such as the workplaces and restaurants with the facilities often being lesser than those the male population receives. It further demonstrates that the female population is not receiving similar rights like the male population in the country. Despite the fact that the female population is exposed to the lesser right compared to the male population, they have a higher literacy level compared to other women in the Middle East. Nevertheless, Bauman (4) states that the educational opportunities in the country are heavily gendered as the female population is being prohibited efficiently from studying the traditionally male subjects like law and engineering. The female population is only allowed to focus on subjects like education or social sciences which then leaves an evaluation of over 97% of female degrees in the country. On the other hand, ALWEDINANI (92) states that the current environment demonstrates an aspect of equality with the female population attending school with the male counterparts are studying similar subjects.
Religion
Saudi Arabia being a Muslim nation, the female pupation will have to adhere to the religious rules that are being implemented by the Holy book. There are limited instances where the sexes will have similar religious practices as there are different policies that are being implemented by people based on their gender. Therefore, an individual can hardly state that there are instances of inequality about religion. An instance of violating these rules will lead to serious punishments (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. 144). However, there are instances where both sexes surfer similar punishments in case of any violations of these laws. The marriage principles affect both sexes at comparable levels with no party considered as the dominant figure in the marriage. Nevertheless, the male will always have the final say in a series of duties or programs that have to be executed in the homestead with the wives left with an option of adhering to these policies. For example, an instance of violating the marriage act in the country will have the elders apply the sharia law with the culprit facing the consequences of their violations.
On the other hand, the Christian religion exercising limited instances of inequalities as the people have the freedom of worship with very few limitation on what they have to do while praying, sitting arrangement, and the dress code. However, the decent dressing is expected from these parties with the intentions of having everybody comfortable. Therefore, it would be a wrong interpretation stating that there are instances of inequalities in relation to religious aspects.
Satisfaction in Life
There are limited instances of satisfaction from the female group in the country. There are currently striving to attain a significant level of recognition. The other female groups are enjoying relatively high levels of appreciation and are also having to implement certain activities that the women in the country have no opportunities. However, Turner (3) states that the government in Saudi Arabia has to fix the various problems that are affecting the female population in the country. They have to participate in a series of programs that will enhance development in the country. For example, the female population wishes to attain some rights like the chance to own property and also participate in the election programs that are being held in the country. Instances of limitation to participating these activities leave them with no say and chance of increasing development in the country. Additionally, the female population in the country are striving to fight the bans on the male and female candidates that were campaigning for people of the opposite sex which states that the female population could only approach candidates of a similar sex.
Nevertheless, an instance of satisfaction will only emerge from aspects of having similar chances to express grievances in society. The practice of equal expression opportunities is witnessed in the Western Culture with the male population experiencing significant pressure from the female counterparts (Barker 4). Women in Saudi Arabia wish to have similar educational opportunities as the male and make an adjustment to the nature of life that the masses are experiencing in the country. For example, there is need to make reforms in the judicial systems in the country, and the practice will only be achieved with the inclusion of the female population in the legal industry of the nation. In the long run, the female population in the country will face a reduced level of discrimination in various sectors and the activities that have to be implemented in these regions (World Bank 15). For instance, most women have no chance of traveling, leaving the country to neighboring states, opening a bank account, or marrying without having permission from a male relative. Therefore, there are fewer rights of divorce to the female citizenry in the country.
Conclusion
The aspect of gender inequality is often witnessed in the country. The growth in these practice has then led to the need to have changes in the way of life and implementation of activities in the region. For example, the women in the country are not allowed to drive vehicles and will always have to adhere to a particular way of dressing. In the Western Culture, these practices can be interpreted as an act of violating an individual’s rights to execute their activities in society. Nevertheless, an instance of satisfaction will only emerge from aspects of having similar chances to express grievances in society. The practice of equal expression opportunities is witnessed in the Western Culture with the male population experiencing significant pressure from the female counterparts.
