Being the Manager of the Sales Department
Being the manager of the sales department of a company that uses SaaS product Salesforce.com and given the scenario, this is how I would respond to the salesperson. I would begin by informing him/her that the SaaS product has developed an efficient way of keeping the data safe through the application of encryption both when the data is in transit and when at rest within the cloud servers. In particular, each data file is split into chunks through a process known as sharding, then the fragments are separately encrypted and stored in diverse locations so that even if someone managed to retrieve and decrypt the data, they would get access to random blocks only (Laplante et al., 2008). Furthermore, I would also assure him/her that the SaaS product salesforce.com got more than 1800 security controls that govern its services which ensures that data will never be accessed by the competitors as he alleges. In fact, the data he already possesses is not safe from any leakage of data as well as competition, and therefore it would be much helpful to use the product for maximizing the sales.
Question Two
The proposed information system in question 3 of the collaboration applies to the ERP application. The ERP system is used to purchase orders to the vendors, schedule deliveries, provide shipping instructions, managing payment information as well as arrival and receipt of information for all the materials needed to build the product (Laudon & Laudon, 2015). It is an EPR application as it involves a process management approach that assists the organization to integrate systems of the integrated applications keen on the management of the enterprise as well as the automation process associated with technology.
