My Experience with a Sales and Marketing Team from a Phone Merchandising Company

Life is a continuous process that begin at conception with an unpredictable end. In regard to the aforementioned aspect, parents are therefore obliged to instill significant critical thinking and evaluation skills on their children that not only allow them make formidable decisions but also to avoid misplaced judgements on others’ ideas. Rational judgment hence emerges as a pillar considered in giving out opinions where many schools of thoughts are involved. This analogy conforms to the fundamentals of Philosophical studies on human authority. This essay evaluates my personal encounter between reality and a logical fallacy.

Communication enable the human race understand each other while creating unity and cohesion needed in a mutual coexistence. In a nutshell, my experience with a sales and marketing team from a phone merchandising company rendered my taste and preference on android phones fairly negative. The members of the aforementioned sales and marketing team shared a similar promotional slogan that according to them, prompted all new and popular android phones to be the best in terms of speed, power consumption and data procession among other qualities. The argument attached to the new phones in this contention, emerged as a common belief that the more popular a product is the more efficient and effective the product might be to the final user. However, the mentioned analogy is a fallacy used to bolster an already existing belief on the popularity aspects as measured against the actual factors such as validity and effectiveness of a product.

In his book, Beverly (1995) hints that such a scenario is an aspect of appeal to popularity. The fallacy suggest that “The popularity or unpopularity of something does not make it either true or false”. According to this aspect, the popularity level of a person or a product does not guarantee its validity since popularity can be bought. In other situations, the popularity level is dependent on political strength and socio-cultural weight. Conclusively, it is imperative to restate that the final decisions made by a person at any level should be independent of external influence. Personal evaluation is paramount.
