The first hypothetical situation
The first hypothetical situation is for a 55 year old wife developed an early Dementia – Alzhiemers. The Dementia – Alzhiemers is a disease that relates to the malfunction of the brain which results to loss of memory, lack of proper thinking and uncontrolled behavior.
The family began recognizing the symptoms such as memory loss, she also began to have challenges in completing her daily tasks, confusion from time to time, and change in mood or personality.
There was lack of acceptance in the family and the husband and the children believed that everything will be okay. Based on the disease as it develops, the family needs to support the lady both emotionally and financially. Due to lack of supervision, the patient becomes uncontrollable and this may cause more damages to her and external parties.
Also, the lack of support from her family can cause lack of acceptance of her condition, low self-esteem, lack of independence, and poor social life.
The best treatment plan
The best treatment plan is to help the patient understand the disease and how to control herself. The patient is expected to do a lot of physical activities to remain mentally active and engaged.
As a case worker, I would recommend for a personal nurse who will take the patient out on walks, and do daily chores such as watering the garden and caring for the pets. She should also spend more time with her family doing the things that made her excited. The caring process requires patience since the patient needs time to adjust from one activity to another.
In cases where hiring a private nurse becomes expensive, the family should take her to a health center with special facilities for people with mental health issues. The support of a specialist is better and may make Dementia – Alzhiemers controllable in the future.
Part Two
I believe that the Lesbian couple should remain in the social service/mental health agency. The agency will guide them individually without making conclusions about their relationship. The past behaviors may be as a result of peer influence, negative social behaviors, and the need to fit in the community social status.
The first individual later feels that lesbianism is not her life and that she must follow the religious beliefs just as the family does. The process of rediscovering herself needs counseling and guidance so that she can have self-acceptance by the end of the training. Suicidal thoughts are as a result of depression and denial of her past. The patient is suffering mentally and feels that the society will not accept her for the past decisions that she made.
The second partner needs to be taught on the importance of respecting other people decisions. Making a decision to break a relationship is rude and affects bot individuals emotionally. The counseling will guide the second partner on how to cope with separation and avoid feeling lonely. Taking alcohol is not the solution rather, the partner should keep themselves engaged with a lot of physical activities. In the health agency, the individual will express themselves by talking to counsellors about how they lived in their past lives and the challenges they faced. When there is someone to listen, the denial and lack of self-acceptance reduces for both parties and they begin to listen to the changes that might positively impact their lives. The agency also creates an interaction process with different patients who have different sources of mental illness. Thus, the mental health support is very essential to self-development and social growth.
