The breakup of families has been a major effect of drug intake and addiction. Most of the drug addicts become irresponsible and end up neglecting their families. In cases where one spouse abuse drugs, divorce, and separation are common. These are fueled by the fruitless attempt by a partner to stop the other from abusing drugs. This has seen thousands of families’ breakup and increased suffering for the children born in such families.
Violence and Lawbreaking
Secondly, violence and lawbreaking are rampant with drug addicts. This is as a result of impaired judgment which is brought by longtime drug intake. Many cases of crimes and murders are linked to drug abuse. The perpetrators are found to be under the influence of drugs when committing the crimes. Others may have been constant drug addicts. At this level, the person taking the substance becomes dependent on the drugs. Failure to take them may result in tremors, seizures, lack of attention, headaches among other effects. However, the constant taking of drugs is directly linked to many diseases such as liver cirrhosis, depression, bronchitis and lung cancer.

Finally, loss of self-esteem is another effect of drug addiction. Many addicts lack the sense of self-awareness. Such may result in general untidiness, inability to manage personal affairs, loss of friends as well as self-pity.
