Different Fundamental Freedoms

To ensure respect for fundamental human rights and freedoms

To ensure that each person or governing body experiences a sense of self-worth in their relationships with others or when carrying out their collective activities, it is necessary to respect fundamental human rights and freedoms. Since they represent the health of the entire community, vital societal organs like the security forces require greater protection of their freedoms and rights. Police officers safeguard everyone else's rights and liberties in a nation or region, so everyone must work to ensure that their freedoms are also upheld. The piece provides examples of how basic police liberties were violated and how this affected them. The legal case was initiated when the Canadian Center for the shared communication services was temporarily locked out by the communication network under unclear circumstances. The authority cited the high failure rates of the communication routers and claimed they could not replace the devices with more efficient ones, within time, to allow the continuation of the communication operations of the police department. Moreover, the procurement devices could not be obtained within reach - the authority had to arrange the manufacture and importation of the devices, and this could require a relatively longer time.

Violation of Fundamental Freedoms

The procurement of the devices took approximately six months and even after the long wait, the police department was supplied with counterfeit goods (Crawford, 2017). The device analysis proved that the routers were evidently refurbished and hence could not manage the high level of accuracy and efficiency in the security department. The case also reported that the general telephone communication system was shut down by the communication authority, and this hindered the reporting of several criminal cases, as well as the operation communications between the police bosses.

In this case, the police were denied the freedom of communication, and the right to information. The police also have the right to protect the lives of others, which was also breached in the case. Due to the poor communications within the police department, the security activities were halted, and most of the criminal cases were not reported (Canadian Statistics Authority, 2012). The public wrongly accused the police of not attending to their urgent security cases, and it tainted the image of the police department. According to Gannon (2015), the police body is a vital organ of the country, and hence the denial of communication freedoms and rights only adversely affects the security situation in the country.
