The CSA Act of 1970
The CSA became official after being signed by President Richard Nixon in the year 1970. The main role of the law was to allow certain agencies to schedule the manner in which different medicine or substances would be used. The US Drug enforcement Agency (DEA) is in charge of the CSA and punishes non-compliance to the rules and regulations provided by the Act. The CSA 1970 Act provides five schedules which are used to classify drugs on basis of their likelihood to be abused, medical usage in the US and their safety " potential for addiction. All people who handle, store or supply drugs in the US need to be registered by the DEA.
