Ethical Dilemmas
Ethical dilemmas are situations in which a person must choose between two options, none of which solves the problem in a morally satisfactory way.
Decency Guidelines
According to the video by OLCU601 (2016), personal and societal decency guidelines cannot produce satisfactory results for the individual choosing the available options. As a result, in a moral quandary, there are two positive situations from which a person must choose one and violate the other. The principle of deliberation can be used when deciding what is right or wrong (OLCU601, 2016).
Management and Ethics
Management who makes a decision that impacts too many people in the organization owes some thought to the employees. In ethics, deliberation refers to the action of weighing how much the situation at hand can be solved.
Ethical Lapse
On the other hand, ethical lapse concept is within a person that requires him or her to handle situations with integrity (OLCU601, 2016). For instance, when a person is left alone in the bank where the cameras are off, there might be an ethical lapse of deciding whether to steal the money or not.
Example
I had two friends namely James and Collins. James had in recent past met and started falling in love with a beautiful lady called Mary. From the looks, anyone would tell that Mary and James' relationship would be a long time one. After a couple of days, I realized that Mary was Collin's wife after observing them at a distance in one hotel. The ethical dilemma inside me was to make a quick decision of which friend to tell the truth about this matter. A lot of deliberations were hovering on my mind, but finally, I approached James and told him to leave alone Mary since she is married to Collins.
