Our speaker, Briana Harrison, came from Rowan College at Burlington County. She took us through Career Services offered in the RCBC CareerLink that would connect one to employment and internship opportunities, on-camp employment, resume assistance, career-related events and workshops, and career and internship fairs. Additionally, she conveyed the use of RCBC CareerLink in requesting an appointment with a Career Services Advisor for resume evaluation, cover letter critiquing, practicing interviewing skills, assessment and interpretation of careers, career path planning, LinkedIn profile and headshots, and cleaning up social media accounts.
The RCBC CareerLink under its website www.rcbc.edu/careerlink entailed job postings, hiring events, career service workshops and career service advisor appointments. The RCBC purposely serves RCBC students, its alumni, various faculties and community residents. Also, the CareerLink would help students to identify and plan career paths. The speaker advised us that there were specified education levels for certain careers as well as the RCBC programs that would allow us to attain certain careers.
The speaker gave us a clue that employers look for only specific formats of resumes and cover letters before allowing someone to attend an interview. However, when looking for an internship, the benefits of doing an internship should be outlined first. The RCBC CareerLink platform offers an insight in online employment resources and social media. It also shows the importance of networking.
Briana took us through the interviewing skills as well as its do’s and don’ts. To complement the interviewing skills, one should appropriately and professionally dress up when attending an interview. Interviewees should know what should or should not be worn to an interview. This tactic is dependable on some tips that the speaker gave us for dressing professionally under one’s budget.

The career opportunities should be technically approached through appointments for resume evaluation, career path planning, and how to find internships and consequently obtain an employment.
