It is crucial that questions posed to the Soviet officials be answered in my capacity as an American diplomat. Many of those items were already generally available in the past. One such instance is the assertion that capitalism has created a setting where racism naturally occurs, which the soviet noted would never end because America requires cheap labor. The Soviet delegate did not, however, take into account the changes taking place in the United States, which truly deal with this kind of viewpoint. As the nation began to embrace equality for all, Roosevelt has drawn attention to these changes. United States have also continuously fought injustice. People have long been fighting for sake of eradicating oppression. While the Soviet Union's claims regarding racism and inequality in the United States may have been true at some point, it is actually a thing of the past as America continuously strive to attain equal opportunities for all citizens in the country and even in their relationship outside the nation regardless of race, gender, or belief.
One of the major points of the Soviet Union regarding their verbal attack to the United States is the existence of inequality that leads to unequal distribution of wealth. This is a very attractive way of convincing third world countries that mostly suffers from poverty. Such claim is actually very far from the truth. Like other countries, the United States have dedicated their time fighting poverty and have actually provided equal opportunity for all through the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964. It has also been pointed out that America have continuously considered redistribution of wealth as critical to the growth of the nation. It can be noted that such feat is actually very difficult. America have done it not just in one day and have considered all parts of the nation in the process. Through the rise of Martin Luther King Jr, America has come to realize that injustice and oppression in one place can affect the struggle of the whole country.
Another huge point raised by the Soviets is the way America takes care of the problem of racism in and out of the country. They claim that the country is selfish and has vested interests with the resources of other nations. However, the United States have actually made huge strides in their effort to improve relationships with other races within and outside. America's relationship in some countries like Vietnam may not have been perfect in the past but it has since improved and this was proven when even President Nixon, the most powerful man in the country at some point, were taken out to protect democracy. Despite holocausts, America has become one of the most influential nations because of how it uses its power for the common good as people pushed for putting interests of world peace and human betterment first. The United States have also used the program of space exploration not only to unite the country but also to put emphasis on the capability of the whole mankind regardless of race or origin.
It is easy to pinpoint the United States as a nation that services only its own and a country that has preference over the marginalized, those whose color of skin is different from white, and those that have different beliefs or races. It is not easy to manage a huge nation with different kinds of people within. While the claim of the Soviet representatives might have been true back in the past, the government and the citizens have since made a conscious effort to eradicate inequality. The lives of American used to be governed by unspoken rules of inequality but has since changed as the country improves its foreign policy and internal regulations. It all started with Martin Luther King's dream of a greater America that do not tolerate oppression, which also became the nation's goal. Today's America has long been changed and yesterday's image is but a shadow of what it has now become. It is far from the views of the Soviet Union. Roosevelt has taken it into himself to continue the efforts that has been started by the economic declaration of rights and the economic constitutional order. Prioritizing such advocates has come into effect today as America now stands united and in equal footing with other nations regardless of race, belief, and gender.
