united states and immigration

According to Pew Research, the population of the United States would have expanded five decades from now, owing largely to a growth in immigration into the world (Schain 246). There will be no dominant race in the United States; both races will be equal in proportion. The white population would be divided in the same proportion as the other races. One in every three Americans will have an immigrant relative, up from one in every four currently. The newcomers will control the population of the United States for the next 50 years ("An Act to Provide for Adjustment of Status for Some Haitian Orphans"). If this projection are attained, the face of America will be changed. For instance, it will alter the pattern of the electorate (Schain 223).

Pros and Cons of Having Immigrants in the United States.

Some of the advantages of having immigrants in the US is that they contribute to the growth of the American economy as they come to the country to look for jobs and therefore contribute to its grow and development. This bracket of settlers are willing to take all kinds of jobs, thus they often apply for the positions that other Americans consider of low standards like cleaning the toilets. The immigrants also pay the United States government taxes, hence contributing to the revenue of the United States (Schain 281).The major disadvantage of having newcomers in the country is that some of them participate in illegal activities that can cause the country the lives of the American people, not to mention the destruction of property that comes along with it. The immigrants also land the jobs meant for Americans, they are more aggressive and willing to take any position that comes their way even at lower wages.

What should be done about Illegal Immigrants?

Coming into the country on illegal terms is breaking the law, but you can't deport every single unlawful immigrant out of the United States of America (Schain 274). So the best thing to do is to take a look at the timespan that the particular settlers have been in the US, thus the illegal immigrants that have been in the country for more than five years should be given full citizenship, the rest should be deported and if they want to come back to the country, they should follow the necessary legal procedures.

Syrian Refugees as Immigrants into the United States?

Following the Syrian war that began in 2011, the Obama administration allowed 10,000 refugees into the United States. Unlike the Mexican immigrants, most of these Syrian ones are on legal terms in the United States. The majority of the Mexican immigrants are on the unlawful stay in the country, posing therefore the crucial immigration problem in the US. The demerits of having Syrian settlers into the United States is that it can contribute to the insecurity and terrorist activities.
