Employers and college student’s perception towards various issues is an aspect that has a lot of discrepancies. In the article “Well Prepared in Their own eyes” by Scott Jaschik demonstrates on some of the issues that students and employers agree on and those that they differ over. However, what is interesting in the article is that it handles one of the sensitive issues that affect young people. When one joins college, he or she is sure about getting employed. On the other hand, employers expect that if a person has a college education then he or she should handle certain responsibilities effectively.
Jaschik’s article is an insightful source of information as it highlights the issues that face college students and employers. One of the issues that Jaschik addresses are that most employers tend to expect a lot from college graduates. In the article, the author indicates that college graduates have human inadequacies. The important thing about the article is that it handles some of the issues that are likely to affect the performance of college graduates while at work ( Jaschik n.p). When people expect too much from a person, in most cases, this is likely to affect one’s performance. From the article, one will notice that the employers require the college graduates to over-perform while on the hand, the graduates may fail to perform to the expected standards.
Jaschik’s article demonstrates the need for employers and college graduates to understand some of the challenges that are common in the labor industry. Employers need to give college graduates the opportunity to gain experience. On the other hand, the college graduates should also try to embrace emerging trends that are needed in the labor industry.
