Polyglotism can referbe referred to as the knowledge and comprehension of several languages. Therefore a polyglot is an individual who understands and can also effectively commutate in several languages (Hemphill 1971, p.12).Wagner, R.F., 2018). Much importance could be associated with being a polyglot most especially in thea job market and also in other social settings.
Polyglots are individuals with intellectual capacities, and social featureswhich are very beneficial to their employers. They are regarded as individualindividuals with powerful mental power based on the challenging task associated with the abilitychallenges of understanding and communicating in different languages. They also possess sharper sensitivity based on their on the relational abilities acquired while learning different cultural values and languages. These group individualindividuals are highly flexible and hence they can function better under pressure and in highly diverse environments, a quality which is sought after by employers in today’s business world (Hyltenstam 2016, p.241).
Based on the intellectual and diversity-related capacities of polyglots, over the years they have stoodstand a higher chanceschance of being offered lucrative contracts in the job markets. Thus, they have developed and maintained a considerable competitive edge over their counterparts. In the job market, polyglots are of higher value to employers based on some reasons. Firstly, they can speak many languages and also have the intellectual capacity to learninglearn more hence. Hence companies can easily post them to different regions. The current trend of globalization in the field of business also has benefits to polyglots, because business are continually moving across the borders of thetheir indigenous nations to offer their products and serviceservices to larger markets, and they need to communicate with of the citizens of host nations. Therefore, they seek to employ highly diversified polyglots who would effectively operate in new markets and relate the missions and goals of the company the constituents, (Adejunmobi, 2004Abdullah, and Talif 2017, p.174175).
