The articles published by Patel and Moore on Friedrich Nietzsche's book
The paper analyzes the articles published by Patel and Moore regarding Friedrich Nietzsche's book. The authors start by stating the changes that have occurred in the 21st century. They write "the twenty-first century will be a time of abrupt, irreversible changes" (Patel and Moore 1). Besides, the authors write about some of the dramatic changes in the entire world including civilization, technology, the extinction of some animals among others. The authors refer to the geological era with civilization as the Holocene and associate it with unpredictable weather changes. For instance, he says 'sea levels are rising…it is evident that the author is worried about the effects of the climatic changes. Patel says '… a fundamental turning point in the life of the biosphere' (2).
The modern society and its components
Generally, the author describes that the modern society is made of seven things which include 'nature, money, work, care food, energy, and lives.' (Patel and Moore, 3). The authors further state that the latter have a high probability of shaping the future. According to Jason, those seven things are cheap hence transforming and putting the modern commerce deplorable (20). For instance, he states that most of the human beings in the United States consume chicken whereby the poultry workers receive little cash (4). Also, he presents other relationships in the modern society which are cheap. In A History of the World in Seven Cheap Things, the authors analyze today's emergencies in the world. Friedrich Nietzsche's book brings the modern ecological situation along with histories of colonialism, rebellions, indigenous struggles among others. By bringing histories, Patel and Moore want to prove that the crises have been there, but they prompted new strategies that make the world cheap as well as encouraging capitalism. In his book, Nietzsche's laments of capitalism culture today which is a result of crises.
Innovative and systemic thinking in times of crisis
It is evident that innovative and systemic thinking is a requirement at a time of crisis in all seven cheap things. For instance in the agricultural revolution, peasants who provided labor receive little cash whereby they even demanded tax-relief (Patel and Moore, 13). In a nutshell, Nietzsche's book recommends deep-seated ways of understanding and reclaiming turbulent changes.
