Numerous natural catastrophes that have caused significant loss of life and property have plagued the world since the dawn of humanity. The hurricane stands out among these natural catastrophes. It is important to keep in mind that although natural deserters are typically out of human control right away, their impacts can last for a very long time.
The storm Irma recently made landfall in the United States. The incident dominated news stories across the globe. A powerful tropical storm in the Atlantic Ocean in September 2017 was thought to be the cause of Hurricane Irma because it caused the ocean to overflow into areas outside of its normal boundaries. (Latham, 2017). Based on the events that took place during this natural disaster, world observers have considered it as one of the most devastating hurricanes of recent times. Observers concluded that is the effects of this unplanned phenomenon surpassed that of hurricane Katrina of 2005. Disaster management institutions in the United States and worldwide were of the opinion that the result of this catastrophic event was a full spread of catastrophic damage that might have a lifelong effect on the inhabitants of Irma. This is based on the fact that it led to massive loss of life and properties more than millions of dollars, (Latham, 2017).
There is need to conclude by stating that although some natural like hurricanes are to a large extent massive and unplanned. There is need to ensure disaster management institutions carry out modern research in a bid to make sure that the likely early occurrence of such disasters is detected in an effort to prevent massive loss of life and properties.
