Todd Cesaratto is an associate instructor and a doctoral candidate at Indiana University. He writes an informative article titled, “Conflict and Communication: The Good Will Hunting Technique”. Cesaratto uses the film under scrutiny to address conflicts that arise during communication. The author discusses three major deficiencies that contribute to the ineffectiveness of conflict avoidance during communication. The deficiencies include the assertion that only positive utterance promote successful communication, the promotion of discussion as a sole avenue to successful communication, and the final deficiency is the inherent conflict avoidance strategies’ lack of emotion. The author uses a scenario from the movie to show that ideal conflict avoidance requires the incorporation of power, force and intimidation.

Despite their differences, Will and Sean finds a common ground where they pick up the pieces of their lives to fix them and live admirably. Curtis thinks the film starts off well but begins to falter when a Minnie driver plays Will’s Undergrad lover. The new direction taken by the film provides a story of love across the barricades. Nevertheless, the film is commendable in how it criticizes formal education. It also is a great asset on showing the benefits and downsides of therapy.

works at the Ohio State University in the department of Educational Studies. The two authors wrote an article about “Good Will Hunting as Teaching Tool”. For every counselling session, it is critical to establish a rapport between the counsellor and the client. Koch and Colette admit that the use of role plays and films serve the purpose to bring the audience closer to the therapists. For this purpose, the movie under scrutiny has various scenes where Will interacts with different therapists. Consequently, it has served the purpose of being a teaching tool where therapy students become more lively and participatory in the classroom by answering questions.

Robert J. Shiller an author in the New York Times confirms that the essence of the American dream has changed over the years. Unlike in the early 1930s when the dream meant freedom, mutual respect, and equal opportunity, the modern meaning reflects owning a magnificent home and running several businesses. To live the dream, one had to beat the odds and make it in life despite the challenges. Such is reflected in the film when Will who hails from a working-class neighbourhood makes it at the end despite the hurdles encountered. As a result, the movie is a representation of class mobility. People are getting increased opportunities to work up the ladder as long as they show endurance and hard work.

The text contradicts the majority view that the condition of one’s birth in America does not determine the future outcome in their life. People born from a rich family have better opportunities in life. Such is reflected in the film Good Will Hunting where the main character is an orphan and has no one to look out for him. Despite the innate possessed high level I.Q he has no option than to work as a Janitor in a school where he could otherwise realize his dreams. It is clear that, inequality remains dominant in America and the situation is not about to change.
