The development of globalization has resulted in the increased use of social media for communication, sharing news, conducting business. The channels require acquiring accessories that enable internet connectivity to effectively conduct the global networking with different people. Some of the causes of handset addiction include; globalization, lack of parental care and excess money at younger age. To prove the effects of the smartphone addiction, most students who spend more than 12 hours socializing online or watching irrelevant movies do register low grades compared to others signifying a relationship with poor grades. Moreover, those who watch ponographic movies are likely to exhibit unbecoming behaviors such as constant fights.
The Association Between Smartphone Overuse and Moral Decadence
To begin with, smartphone overuse is associated with moral decadence in the society especially the youth. Many teens are using the gadgets to watch pornographic movies in the internet, wrestling and songs which are not morally accepted in the society. The actions make such events to be imprinted in the memory of such individual and culminate such practices such as fighting with the peers. Such activities occur due to lack of enough legislation to regulate the accessibility of internet use among people across the world (Samaha & Hawi, 2016). The modern ways of life where parents are so busy with their economic activities at the expense of taking care of the family has been one of the factors fuelling such unbecoming use of the smartphones among children and with the adverse consequences of the same. Therefore, from the perspective of discussion, children and young adult who are vulnerable to negative effects of overuse of smartphones should use them with caution and is possible; the parents should supervise the children on the various sites that they get the information online or watching to prevent growth of moral decadence among the youths.

Again, the excessive use of smartphone has been associated with poor performance in academics. Most learners spend most of their time doing non-academic activities in the internet such as watching movies and socializing at the expense of learning. It won't be a surprise to get that an average college student spends atleast 15 hours networking with other people using the smartphones while spend an hour or less in the studies. Moreover, the installed games in the smartphones have worsened the situations as it complements the movies and songs accessible in the internet. The root cause of the predicaments is lack of advice on the importance of getting good grades in fighting the human borne atrocities such as poverty, ignorance and poor health. Children grow irresponsibly due to modern ways of life when no one cares what to do once you reach adolescent (Samaha & Hawi, 2016). In reality, these people are still very young to be allowed to do things on their own and are vulnerable to any activity that is eye catching and requires their attention. In short, smartphone overuse is likely to be a root cause of poor performance among the users. Caution needs to be taken into account when using the gadgets and specific time should be allocated to playing games and watching movies to enhance academic life among the learners.
Positive Consequences of Smartphone Overuse
Next, the excessive uses of smartphones results in positive consequences such as enhance online marketing and trading activities. Many business people use the smartphones excessively to advertise their products in social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Millions of people can effectively view the various products displayed and purchase the goods in need. Moreover, trading activities have revolutionized due to overuse of the smartphones. Most individuals have embarked to online buying of goods and services through the use of the handsets (Samaha & Hawi, 2016). The sellers can effectively respond to the requirements of the buyers and negotiate for pricing through the mobile phone. This has expanded the market share of business organization and the sole proprietorship and hence increased net income. Therefore, despite the negative consequences associated with overuse of the smartphones, minority of the individuals have enhanced online trading activities through effective advertising their products.
