In this paper, we shall look at the amazing Apple organization and its shift in society and the effects of the change in the team.
The organizational culture of the Apple Company is a major factor in the success of the team. Apple has been open to change of culture and society with their new CEO Tim Cook who has shown that a different direction is what the company needed for some time now. Every employee develops and integrates into the organization's culture of spontaneous and growing innovation and social thinking which translates into the products and services they have. With a new CEO in 2011, Apple saw a change in the organization's culture that had stayed with them from the time of Steve Jobs as the CEO (Fiegerman, 2016). The work of any CEO is to direct the company and create new guidelines and strategies that will benefit the company, in the long run, As much as Cook has maintained the original products and their make up the changes, he has done can still be seen from the direction the company is taking. Innovations from the Apple watch, Apple music, and Apple pay have added into the array of products that Apple has to offer at the market. Before Cook, Apple was known for not being too socially involved with issues concerning the society under Jobs (Fiegerman, 2016). Jobs was very much dismissive when it came to matters outside the company and many times he came off as a snob who did not want to face social issues head on. Cook, on the other hand, has totally changed the culture of Apple as a company by involving himself with the societies and the issues that people face every day; he has decided to engage the company and himself to matters concerning the community and be present for the people in need( Fiegerman, 2016).
Under the leadership of Tim Cook, the company is matching up charitable contributions from their workers who had long been hard for them. Cook is making his presence felt by highlighting the importance of social responsibilities; he is not afraid to fight for the people by promoting cooperate diversity and renewable energy and even improving the manufacturing conditions abroad. Taking time to be innovative by approaching such sensitive matters that affect the lives of people shows a different side of the company that people did not see the new leadership. Showing support for the LGBT community rights and taking part in philanthropic activities indicates that Apple is much more than just a company, but it is a part of the society and is involved (Fiegerman, 2016). Cooks innovative idea of embracing social justice in the business is a fantastic move in making Apple an appealing brand for the consumers and even the workers. Cook has made sure to change the culture of Apple by being more attentive to what the people say from the employees to the consumers to the investors, he has given everyone his attention and by him responding shows a difference from his predecessor Jobs. Some people previously made many important decisions during Jobs time, but with Cook, he includes the ideas of others and makes sure that whatever the decision is people will be familiar with it and not just bombarded.
The new approach of being less visionary and more socially responsible has shown some drop in sales by 2012 under Cook (Fiegerman, 2016). New changes in the company's culture have made the organization larger than ever with many Apple stores open all over the world because the brand is more relatable than before.
