All my life I have always believed in working hard to achieve anything I desire to possess or own personally. It is for this reason that anything that turns out to negate this norm would make me upset and I entirely cannot live with anyone or any group that cannot help me attain my dreams.
Running for the Secretary General Post
There was time at school when there were notifications for any student to run a campaign and get a seat in different positions. The opportunity was a result of the past student management body being shuffled because of issues that were noted in their administrative activities. I decided that I could take the secretary general post which I thought was the primary source of the problems that were being stated in the administration activities by the friendly group.
I actively ran my campaigns. Since the institution encourages the democracy of students, I was lucky to be nominated for my efforts and selected to compete along with one of the most famous and wealthy opponents who was a senior student. In turn, I was only a year of being a senior student. The saddest thing was that my rival was using his position to make it difficult for me to operate my campaign activities in the school. For instance, there was time when my team was putting my posters up, and my opponent’s side confronted my friends destroying all the posts and claiming to beat them up if they were noticed supporting me in any way.
Choosing the Right Approach
When I heard the news, I decided to seek advice from the group as for what ways we could employ in launching the revenge. Some members considered it would be the best if we went out with bats and beat them up but I thought this could destroy my reputation and in turn, I may fail to get the position. I told my team I would think about all their suggestions and we would meet the next day and accept the final solution. It is this decision to give me some time to think over the issue that made me take an unusual step that helped me get the post. The group decided to report the wrongdoers to the school management who in turn called them and made the rest of the school know about the occasion. The opponent was ruled out of the campaign for misbehaving during the battles.
Lessons Learned
I learned that if I had opted for the revenge tactic of resolving the issues, I would not have attained my purpose of being the school’s next secretary-general. I also learned that despite the fact that waging war towards my opponents would have given me the fastest satisfaction, it would not have helped me in achieving my long-term goal of getting the post. Third, I got to know that in life we must take a sufficient amount of time to think over all our actions or advice that our friends give us so that we do not make mistakes that would massively cost us. The final aim that we seek in our lives should form the base of all our decisions or even the steps that we take in our daily operations. Finally, I made a conclusion that before making the ultimate decision one must explore all the available options so we can accept the best resolve in the end.
