Food and Culture essay

The ultimate foundation of human health, adequate and correct nutrition, especially for women and children, must be controlled and maintained (Larson and Mary 168). Malnutrition has played a major role in the startling increase of epidemics linked to nutrition in recent years. It is clear that societal nutrition norms have played a role since they cause nutritional deficiencies in the body, which have a negative impact on the health of millions of mothers and children worldwide. Women and children are known to consume excessive food without exercise leading to the accumulation of body fat, increase in the body mass and consequently affecting individual’s health negatively (Dye, Bruce, et al., 175).
It is indispensable to understand the effects caused by the malnutrition such as obesity and deficiency of food products for the people. Therefore there rise a need for the society to embrace the nutritional intervention which focuses on changing diet practices (Patel 4). Adopting the change will help the malnourished women and children develop the capability to fight infection, live a healthy life and reduce the risk of contracting diseases throughout their lives such as heart disease which is caused by excessive fat in the body. The focused behavior change and frequent exercise for women is a crucial factor in the reducing the rate of becoming overweight. The initiative will similarly make the women and children more active in food production leading to food sustainability throughout the year regardless of the demographic changes. The intervention will also help address the nutrition hygiene factor aiding in the reduction and progression of non-communicable diseases among women and children.

The recovery from malnutrition effects is not a one-day activity, regular monitoring is required. The health-related talks and debates on favorable health practices and patterns of growth and development play a crucial role as they aid in creating awareness on how to curb and improve human malnutrition resiliency. Epigenetics, a study of genetic changes of gene functions that do not lead to variation in DNA sequence indicates that food and epigenetics influence the health and well-being of an individual (Larson, Nicole and Mary 168). Ultimately, an epigenetic diet guides the people toward the ideal food treatment since the scientific studies divulge the fundamental mechanisms and effect that different foods have on the human health and epigenome.
