My main business idea is to have a cosmetic shop in Melbourne Australia. The business is set to be in the form of a stall in two of the farming markets in Melbourne. The choice of my location is based on the fact that the farmers around the farming areas do not have the privilege of visiting the high end shops where they can get such products. This is because of the limited time they have to travel around. I therefore wish to take the market to the customers.
After an exclusive visit of five markets in the area, I settled for two that I felt were good locations for my stalls. The two markets are Fitzroy and Prahran. The conditions were that I join the market associations for accreditation and membership. Then sign the stallholder understanding and agreement document, agree to comply with the labeling requirements for the product and ensure the stall manning is done by the owner or the employee. I have gone from stall to stall comparing the prices at which stalls go for. I have first settled for hired stalls since I have other costs to cater for as am new in the market. I have compared the stalls in the market square against those built around the periphery of the main square.
The conditions to have a stall in this area are inclusive of some requirements. I found that I need to have a registration certificate (ABN) which allows businesses to operate in the area. This is a document which is given by the Council. This serves as a business permit. A Statement of Trade (SOT) document is also needed. This document indicates when the business is set to start among other necessary documents. There is then the signing to the requirement of maintaining the highest standard of customer service.
