The collateral is an American movie that is centred on neo-crime theme directed by Michael Mann. The film describes how two strangers Max (Jamie Foxx) a taxi driver and Vincent (Tom Cruises) a contract killer comes to associate with one another in the line of crime (Mulligan et al., np). The Aim of this paper is to find out how far associations between two individuals can lead to circumstantial friendship by taking a case study on the Collateral movie.
Claims
The film of collateral begins with a taxi driver by the name Jamie Foxx (Max) who hopes to open his own limousine company someday. In the course of doing his work, Max meets with Annie who happens to an attorney working for the federal government ("COLLATERAL (HD) Michael Mann's Duality", np.). Annie appears friendly and attractive to Max. When leaving the car after paying her fair, Annie leaves her business card for Max. Max takes this as an opportunity to get more luck during the next fare.
Evidence
On another ride, Max meets Vincent (Tom Cruise) who offers him $ 600 if he was willing to drop him somewhere. It is on this journey that Max realizes that Vincent is an assassin who had a mission to kill several people. Because of the prevailing circumstances, Max is forced to abide by all what Vincent is doing lest he kills him (Mann et al., np.). When Max realizes that one of his previous Passenger-Annie was among the targets by Vincent, he tries to prevent her from Vincent as well as also saving his own life.
Conclusion
From this movie, it is evident that circumstance association between two or more persons can lead to true friendship. This can be seen in the case between Max and Annie who despite having met once developed affection towards each other and appear to be true friends who are there for each other in the time of need.
