An ideal manager must inspire, motivate, and align the goals of the employees with those of the company. In this respect, the person must be both strategic and actively work to foster teamwork among the staff. In the discussion of these actions with the other two colleagues, the employees recognized that setting targets and having a plan in place on how to achieve them is useful in the management process. Also, the involvement employees in the decision-making process, especially in some of the issues directly affecting them, is significant in avoiding conflicts, lack of faith, or trust (Nichols, 2014). Besides, there was an agreement that providing avenues to resolve conflicts and team-building exercises encourage the unity between management and employees hence the smooth flow of communication. However, the member suggested new insights for the ideal management such as understanding the specific roles of the manager, diversity of cultures within the organization, as well as the importance of rationality when one makes managerial decisions.
In conclusion of the meeting, the team focused on coming up with the next steps of how the manager can ensure to achieve and demonstrate the actions through behavior and practice. One of the steps involves leading role in implementing the actions (Nichols, 2014). For example, when a conflict arises, the manager should be able to predict and solve it through engaging physically with the conflicting parties. Also, the person should learn insights from the same and put appropriate mechanisms in place to avoid the occurrence of the same in future. Lastly, encouraging open communication, ensuring equal opportunity to all individuals in the workplace when making appointments, and asking for employee suggestion regarding possible solution towards an organization problem are some of the ways through which a manager demonstrates their values and ethics.
