Censorship may have a variety of effects on individuals. It can have an effect on them by making them censored, or it can have an impact on the people evaluating the material by forcing them to respond differently. As a consequence, it is fair to assume that the idea of censorship influences them in certain respects. This can be a controversial topic since observers can discern the material in several ways. It could be considered inappropriate or unsuitable for children, leading the viewer to recommend that it be censored.
Banning is a contentious issue that can be interpreted in a variety of ways. Some believe that the first amendment guarantees them the privilege of free expression, and others believe that anything with unfavorable messages should be censored. This leads to being on the side of either supporting censorship or not supporting it. People who choose to ban certain books suggest that they don’t want their kids to have an open mind, “They don’t trust educated teachers and librarians”’(Gallo,1). Therefore they feel that their children won’t make the right choices when exposed to certain things. This gives an idea of why people feel the way they do about censoring. In contrast, individuals who disagree with censorship believe that “it’s not good for the intellectual and emotional well-being of the child,”(Gollo,1). Those who feel that the child should have mental freedom feels censorship should not be in effect. On the other hand, people who agree with the censorship want their children to be under the positive influence. “Therefore the parents desire to fill the child with positive portrayals, but this is not so easily dismissed.”(Gollo, 1)

Some people choose to ban books because it original content may be too mature. The material discussed in the censoring of the book “The Color Purple.” An opinion about the book The Color Purple was “I was offended by the book’s’ subject matter and graphic material”(Green, 1). There is an opposing opinion about the censorship of the book, and she felt the “book was fantastic, and I found no reason to outlaw it.” Those who chose to ban or censor the book felt that book contain a lot of mature contents. , therefore the book was censored and made inaccessible in places where complaints were raised about it.

In Conclusion, censorship has been in effect all over the world, and it deals with a variety of subjects. Since the t 1st amendment gives us the freedom of speech, some people are confused to when it comes to censoring. If the 1st amendment gives us the of speech then why are things getting censored? In conclusion, censorship occurs when the topic is taken in offense or found inappropriate to an age group.
