With the increasing cases of sexual harassment in the Latin America, the paper focuses on a special feature in which students from the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education were moved by the social problem and invented a protective garment that would generate electronic shock of up to 90 volts to keep away aggressors. The jacket, famously known as the "Woman Wearable" can only produce the shock in case someone handles the wearer inappropriately. The shock will strike the aggressor for a period of between 10 to 20 seconds, a time within which the victim will have run away to their safety.
Culture contributes greatly to the sexual harassment subject depending on whether it condones or curses the vice. From the foregoing, the Latin America culture, values and beliefs seems not outright about this ill motive by few members of the society. Whatever the Mexican society stands for is not acceptable both ethically and morally. According to (Latin American Post, 2018), three sexual assault cases were reported in cities in Mexico daily, which reflects a rotten society altogether. The jacket is a representation of desperate moves by the students.
Further, each person has a right to walk freely in the street without any form of harassment whatsoever as provided for by the law, the constitution. Should there be a violation of the same by any individual, the victim has a legal right to take the matter to court and have the aggressor punished. It is not the work of the citizens to ensure their safety as they walk around in the streets, rather the government should provide security as part of the basic public utilities through the taxes they pay, which adds on to the question of human rights.
