Who Represents Me?

Single Texas residents must be able to describe their state lawmakers in great detail. Voters will decide how well their needs can be represented in the Senate by knowing who their representatives are. The views and desires of the person who represents the state in the Senate decide how much the state's people's interests are handled. Often, it is critical to understand who represents you in the Senate in order to recognize their motivation and inclination with respect to policies that explicitly or indirectly concern you, such as education and the environment, and thereby decide the right position to take on these public services. The US community takes charge in the representation of the states in the legislature. Texas State is represented by Senator John Cornyn and Senator Ted Cruz. Representative Ron Reynolds happens to be the first African-American to represent the bend county. Ron Reynolds is a husband, and a father to three and accounts for the county's House District 27. Reynold is serving currently on the second highest ranking position within the Democratic Caucus, which is the House Democratic Whip. He also serves on the Energy Committee of the National Conference of State Legislatures to which he was appointed to serve by the state speaker, Speaker Straus. His positions are no doubt credible, for he went to the Texas Southern University, from which he received a degree in Public Affairs, and subsequently the Texas Tech University from which he obtained a Doctor of Jurisprudence. (Texas House Member). In the City of Houston, Ron has been one of the youngest people to be appointed Associate Municipal Judge (Texas House of Representatives ).

Among his many other occupations, Ron is an Attorney as well as a Mediator, and partners in Brown, Brown & Reynolds Law Firm. He also has a record of a presidential position in Missouri City NAACP branch, as well as the Houston Lawyers Association. He is currently a member of Every Ready Lodge, the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity and the 100 Black Men of America. He has received numerous awards including the YMCA Minority Achievers Award, the Public Servant of the Year, Best Attorney in Houston and the Houston Citizens Chamber of Commerce "Business Pinnacle Award." He can be described as an advocate for the minorities, seen through his efforts to support minority programs such as the state's HUB program for minority businesses, one he vigilantly fought to strengthen. Ron has authored a total of 77 bills in office and has co-authored 19 bills (Texas House of Representatives ).

Senator Borris L. Miles serves the Texas Senate District 13. The address is 12068, Capitol Station. Miles has been a member of the house since 2007 – 2017 and is currently the member of the Senate. A graduate of the Sam Houston State University, Miles is a member of the Democratic party and can be termed as a permanent resident of Houston, where he is well known for his strong business drive in particular in the field of Insurance and Real Estate Development. Miles has been able to redevelop two commercial blocks, as well as own one of the largest insurance company in the state of Texas. He first got into the legislature in 2006 when he immediately initiated programs for the development of the country such as creating economic opportunities for the people, creating second chances to help individuals better their juvenile records, increasing funding for HIV testing, and creating for the youth justice department, an Ombudsman office (The Texas Senate ).

Miles holds a BS degree from the Sam Houston State University and has offered efforts and resources to the economic empowerment of his people. For example, he initiated and funded the Hip Hop 4 HIV concert series. The initiative was later adopted by the CDC. He runs the TexStars Foundation, an initiative of his conception, and one that has seen to the education of hundreds of African-American men, by way of hundred scholarships. Among his other achievements include the title he earned as the Star of the Legislative Session, bestowed upon him by the Texas Classroom Teachers Association. The Planned Parenthood has bestowed upon him the title "Champion of Women's Health" from his valuable input to women's health matters. The Texas A&M Agrilife Extension did not fall behind to brand him the "Urban Agriculture Leader" as they recognized his efforts towards improving agriculture for sustainability in the state of Texas (The Texas Senate). Among the committees, Miles members are the Senate Committee on Nominations chaired by Brian Birdwell, a Republican Senate representing the Texas Senate District 22. The Senate Committee on Agriculture is chaired, Water and Rural Affairs, presided over by Charles Perry, a Republican West Texan. The Senate Committee on Natural Resources and Economic Development which is chaired by Craig Estes, the senator representing North Texas (The Texas Senate ).

3325 Oaklawn Place Dr, Missouri City is therefore represented by Senator Borris L. Miles and Rep Ron Reynolds. Both have been in the legislature for quite some considerable time, and have both done commendably. Both of their legislative commissions have only served to the best of the state for they have both employed their positions to the betterment of the country. They have also given back to the society by bringing developments and economic benefits according to, what the community gave to them regarding education, and even adding more to the same. Their principles have served to correspond to their input. Ron is a black American dedicated to improving the livelihood and status of his fellow people, and he has very well done this through the initiatives he has started. Though one of the youngest persons to be appointed Municipal Judges, Ron has proved his abilities as a Republican, and as a defender of justice. His winning of awards in justice such as the NAACP Drum Major for Justice Award has just been approved to his efforts. Even though with a degree in law studies, Ron has used his commissioning to improve the livelihood of the people by supporting minority businesses such as the states’ HUB for minority businesses (The Texas Senate ).

A successful businessman has Miles been, who happens to be a long-life resident in Houston. He has served relatively longer in the legislature, and his service is notable through the programs and initiatives he has made and helped raise. To note is that his degree in BS has well corresponded to his efforts and inclination to his service for the people. Notable perhaps are the initiatives he has made while in the legislature, to begin with, the increment on the funding for HIV testing, just to improve the health of the people of Texas (Patrick). He has gone ahead to initiate and fund the Hip Hop 4 HIV concerts, geared towards improving the health of the population of Texas. Though the CDC took over the initiative, the program saw to the benefit of many Texans. Giving time and dedication to other programs such as the Houston Sickle Cell Association was just another profound action of serving his people. And finally to note of him was the development of his program, which later saw to the education of hundreds of blacks living in America, after it was awarded more than a hundred scholarships, the TexStars Foundation (Texas Legislative Council ).

Important to note is that the principles the above two members of the legislatures displays corresponds with their background both socially and regarding education, and hence their political affiliation, which then determines their motivation to serving their people (Patrick). To know such factors and qualities about one's representatives is important in determining who to elect into the legislatures, for the best of the community. The character elected into the house is most likely to be reproduced in serving the community, and hence it is what the community gets that tells of what they chose.

Most paramount to note perhaps is the fact that representatives, even if they may change once in the Legislature, are likely to carry on their beliefs and principle even after they are elected into the house. It is thus important to know about who represents me.
