What are the distinguishing characteristics of a society that you feel are under attack today?

Leaders are necessary for an entity or state to stand still and function well. We live in a time where there are various problems and diverse minds that must be guided and governed. As a result, in order for others to be free to do what they wish, each person must have rights. Democracy has been introduced to the world to assist us in carrying out numerous plans for the country's growth. On the opposite, since there is a high degree of terrorism and corruption, this democracy has generated fear and tension. From the latest, it reflects that the situation in 2015, a year in which equality was tried in the face of war, terrorism, mass migration and other crises, and, in some cases, suffered serious setbacks. In our age of anxiety, the first casualty of fear and insecurity is often freedom. Ideally, democracy is a government in which power and civic responsibilities are exercised by all the adults, citizens freely by elected representatives (Inglehart,& Welzel, 2010) This helps them to protect the basic human rights and freedom like freedom of speech and religion. It also rests on the principles of majority rule and individual rights. On contrary as much as the rights of citizens are protected, there are some things which hinder the development of the state especially where the members are minority and they vote to pass the rule. This brings a war which ends bringing enmity between the members in .
Therefore, as much as it is a great significant it also has demerits which create enmity. In an authoritarian society, virtually all such organizations would be controlled, licensed, watched, or otherwise accountable to the government. In a democracy, the authority of the state are clearly defined and sharply limited. If they are not well defined the citizens may end up misusing them for their own benefit hence no positive impact in the government. However, even in the implementation of these democracies, there are pressures that tend to threaten various democratic foundations. This has created no trust since if it was open and trustable it will attract those with vested interests to use the democratic process as a mean to attain power and influence more guys. This has just reflected on what is happening in the government without clear set up of principles addressing them.
Alternative defining element of democracy is the essential concept which safeguards the right of the persons in the society. The consent of governing is achieved by authorizing the sovereignty of the people with the power of the highest political order. This is done so in order to educate the people on how they can they can elect the right leaders in the country. Therefore, during the election period all the delegates have to go all round the villages campaigning freely in order to explain and educate the society the significance of electing the right people who will serve them. This means that once they enlighten them on the policies and principles it will help them to scrutinize each candidate’s ideas. Ideally, agreement is a crucial element of democratic theory which is a significant idea not only main portion of the adult populace but also accepts and approves the state and its policies in which a manner is secured. Hence, it is significant that the elected representatives at a national and local level should listen to the people and respond to their needs and suggestions. However, even if an individual gives his/her vote to a particular delegate, it will not reflect a true democratic. Due to this scale, there are no chances that all the citizens will accept with all the decisions made by the government. In fact there are those delegates who will mobilize and look for orthodox means since the citizens are the determinant. They therefore decide to go all round in the village to give some cash to the youths and old people to elect them without educating them that it is there right to vote the right guy. This brings in terrorism and corruption which will make citizens fight hence they end up shading blood for the innocent citizens.
Basically, active contribution of people as voters in political and civil is also significant defining democracy. This is because active contribution is crucial in crucial democracy. The major role of the citizen in democracy is to fully participate in public life, hence the right to vote increases amongst citizens. Also, one can argue that democracy should be the only mechanism for choosing a political leader. Consequently, this should be minimized to voting since it will not give an upright leader. On the other hand, the notion of democratic autonomy can be recognized as a significant means of participation which calls for people’s direct involvement at a local level through the society institutions. Hence, the citizens should essentially make an attempt to gain an understanding of the relevant public democracy. This will enlighten them to understand and be willing to listen to the government’s issues and views (Dahl, 2015).
Additionally, education is the most crucial element defining democracy in the state. This is due to the fact that it can be argued that in order for people to fully participate, they have to be informed on the relevant topical issues of the state. This will make citizens to elect guys who can promote and develop that nation since those leaders are literate hence they will actively participate and implement laws which will help the state to improve economically. Also, it will bring a collective participation in analyzing the concept of participation and decision making in the political decisions. It will also enable them to put aside the self-development and have a common interest of improving the state’s economy. On contrary, personal autonomy must be taken into consideration when defining democracy since the political process on decision making to a person or a group of guys who are unqualified or well informed political decisions.
Besides, one of the crucial elements of democracy is that the underlying right of the people is to have rights and more specifically the right of freedom of choice. The kind of freedom am talking here is to take pleasure in one’s own culture without such minorities being scrutinized. Citizens should have a kind of rights where one can exercise and express his freedom freely and decide on what to do. By doing this, it will make democracy and human rights to be universal values that should be vigorously promoted around the world. This will protect the work of the poverty and those who are physically challenged to develop themselves and alleviate the conflict hence creation of a preventable resolution. Therefore, this will create an atmosphere where each and everybody will express his/ her views, opinions and thoughts without any fear or favor. This makes one to seek information and forms an association which will be assembled in a peaceful manner to prevent democracy from degenerating into despotism by the majority (Hague, & Harrop, 2016)
This brings another key and most crucial element of democracy which is majority rule. This makes it to be very competitive elections since it only needs to have a tyranny of numbers. Additionally, the autonomy of party-political, sovereignty of expressions, and freedom the press are not exercised hence the citizens will not have a chance to vote an individual of their interest. This element is not effective since most people may be having an idea that is not right and the opposition has the right idea but now because of the number it will not be passed as a law and be implemented. So, therefore, the element of democracy is to safeguard that sections have the right to promote their agents for elections to administration against the popular views. Finally, I can conclude by saying that democracy is not the best means of government but many of its defining elements explained above are crucial. Therefore, any state should not depend fully on the democracy since it will make the state to be corrupt and do things which many make its economy go down and be a corrupt and terrorist state. I argue them to have more than one type of governing the state so that they may have a perfect ruling. Anything that has a merit must have a demerit on contrary.
