Transgender Rights and the United States
Transgender refers to individuals whose gender varies from their ordinary sexual traits. A transgender individual is sometimes recognized as a lady in spite of him having male reproductive organs. Due to sexual dysphoria among the United States’ residents, Hillary Clinton was triggered to support lesbianism and gay, in which she called dropping the "T."
The Defense of Marriage Act
Defense of Marriage Act that was signed by Bill Clinton in 1996 came into practice in 2011. When Hillary stood out to support transgender relationships, numerous people came up different theories regarding her stand. As claimed by social media posts, Clinton referred this initiative as the L.G.B.T, according to which, Americans were considered as equal and deserved to be granted their marriage rights regardless of their sex. Despite the resistance seen by a fraction of Americans, some social media platforms, and religious groups, the bill was seemingly going to be put into practice simply because some Democrats and Republican representatives had supported it.
Advocacy for Transgender Rights
Initially, transgender rights had been advocated in 1969. During that year, riots against the transgender discrimination had been launched at the Stonewall Inn. Later in 2002, the lesbian and gay activists came up with the Sexual Orientation Non-Discrimination Act (“sonda”). The act assumed that it was illegal to discriminate the transgender people at the place of work, accommodative places, school, and other public places. The then New York State Senator, Tom Duane, said that some of the transgender individuals dreaded being exposed because they could lose their jobs, place of residence, or be killed.
Challenges Faced by Transgender Individuals
Despite the formation of protective acts like the Gender Expression Non-Discrimination Act (“genda”), 28% of the transgender individuals are still victimized in various places. In 2011, 19% of these people were not allowed to access basic facilities in the United States. Out of the total number, 41% gays and lesbians were at the risk of attempting suicide. Today, the attitude of many Americans has changed towards the transgender residents. However, a few people like the politicians and religious groups are still against the practice about the “bathroom issue.” Similarly, parents are not safe with their children going to bath in washing places. After the gay marriage was legalized in 2011, Pauline Park, their chair, was much happier with the decision. Later, a number of the social media platforms and a few individuals who had offended the L.G.B.T. people were much remorseful about the mistreatment of transgender.
Opinions on Transgender Rights
Personally, I have diverse discernments regarding the transgender rights. Firstly, the rights that they were granted increased chances of American residents contracting sexually transmitted infections. Since a fraction of the lesbians and gays may be infected with infectious diseases, they may want to infect their partners purposefully. Hence, the practice can lead to more deaths. Moreover, the right will limit the American population. In most cases, people of the same sex will not be able to give birth hence leading to a reduction in birth rate. Similarly, the act might lower the self-esteem of the involved individuals. Conversely, the passing of trans gender rights has made the interested groups to enjoy American citizenship since they may now feel that they are equally loved as other Americans.
Conclusion
Summarily, sexual matters depend on peoples’ physical appearance, nature, religion, culture, and constitution. Any nation thrives when its citizens are fully granted their sexual rights. Nonetheless, transgender should be a voluntary activity, meaning that no American should be forced to exercise the act.
