The Shining

Danny Torrance
Danny Torrance is a fictional character from Stephen King's 1977 novel The Shining. He has psychic powers and is the son of Wendy and Jack Torrance. He is a teenager with a troubled past. In this novel, Danny has to overcome his demons and save his parents.
Jack, the Father of Danny
Jack, the father of Danny, has his own issues of abuse and neglect. Jack's father beat him regularly. Jack has also injured Danny twice, breaking his arm and dropping the baby. He also slaps him for calling the Overlook. As Danny's life begins to unravel, he cries out for help.
Danny is psychic and is able to read other people's minds. He also has the ability to communicate with an ethereal figure. Hallorann has similar powers and calls it "the shining."
Jack Nicholson
Jack Nicholson played the character of John Torrance in the 1980 film adaptation of Stephen King's The Shining. The character was also portrayed by Steven Weber in the 1997 miniseries. More recently, Henry Thomas portrayed the character in the 2019 film adaptation of Doctor Sleep.
The film was a big success and arguably one of the greatest horror movies of all time, but critics were quick to point out its flaws. Despite this, it's impossible to deny that Nicholson's performance as the axe murderer in The Shining is one of his best. Although his character was ultimately destroyed by the forces of the Overlook Hotel, he introduces small nuances to his character that slowly tease the audience with its gloom and horror. As a result, he becomes one of the most dreaded horror villains in history.
After The Shining, Nicholson continued to act in several other movies and received some accolades. His 1980s credits included Reds, Prizzi's Honor, and Ironweed. In the 1990s, Nicholson starred in two more critically acclaimed films, including Hoffa and A Few Good Men. In both of these films, he won his second Oscar.
Shelley Duvall
