The Radioactive Decay and Heat
The radioactive decay is the primary source of heat inside the planet.
The Importance of Water on Celestial Bodies
The presence of water on other celestial bodies is crucial since life depends on it and continual efforts are being made to detect life on these things.
Sulfide Chimneys
Sulfide chimneys are pinnacle-shaped geological formations that originate from metal- and other volcanic gas-charged, highly heated sea water.
When microscopic sulfide and oxide particles that resemble black smoke emerge from heated saltwater, sulfide chimneys are created. Typically, they create a honeycomb-like structure, which causes a chimney-like structure to begin to form as the water continues to heat. The part of the ocean when sulfide chimneys are found is the mid-ocean ridges of the ocean floors.
Life Around Sulfide Chimneys
The plant and animal life that are found around sulfide chimneys are the little-known communities of microbes. They are heat-loving creatures and are known as thermophilic. They can survive the heat of the sulfide chimneys, and that is why they are found in such places.
Life is abundant in the areas around sulfide chimneys because there are hot minerals that are rich in fluids. These supply nutrient chemicals that these organisms would need to survive in such kind of environment. Examples of these animals and plants are the tube worms that absorb hydrogen sulfide.
The energy source for these organisms is the inorganic earth itself.
Other Extreme Environments on Earth
Other extreme environment found on our planet and the specific life that thrive there.
Other extreme environment of the earth includes the sea floor, which has gently sloping regions known as continental slope. This region of the earth supports deep seas creatures such as the sharks, crab and soft corals. They find their food among the mud, rock, and sand as well as on the canyon walls. The ender seas canyon environment can only support specific animals whose adaptive features help them in surviving in this extreme environment. Continental shelf is another extreme earth environment. It is a narrow ribbon of the floor of the sea that runs continuously underwater until it reaches the bottom of the ocean to form a flat floor. It is a home to a variety of vegetations and animals. Most fish are found here. It is full of fish food and thus the reason why the majority of fish are caught at the continental shelf. Seafloor is another environment of the earth that supports the life of varies organisms. It is known as the last great frontier on the planet earth. It hosts dead animals and bizarre organisms that cannot be seen with the naked eye lives here.
Cape York Meteorite
Cape York is a meteorite is one of the earth's largest iron meteorites. Its made of small pieces of an asteroid that broke apart. It was discovered in the year 1894 and was found to have been in existence for over 10,000 years ago. Its fragment is the ahnighito, woman, and dog, Thule, Savik and even Tunorput. It is an iron meteorite, which belongs to the chemical group of IIIAB.
It is not a magnet but just a heavy iron meteorite.
