Reflect on some strategies for becoming a successful student that you learned from this week's chapter readings, activities, and classroom discussion.
IN YOUR OWN WORDS, answer the following three questions in the boxes below. Remember: The goal is to relate the course content to your real-world experiences.
Hint: The recommended Connect Activities include a self-assessment on time and stress management you might find helpful.
Question 1:
After reading chapter 2 in P.O.W.E.R Learning, answer the following questions with 50-175 words per response:
How can you use what you learned from the chapter and the activities noted to best support your personal, academic, and work life? (at least 50 words)
Succeeding at work, school and life makes a person to juggle through the demands of each occupation. Therefore, review of all actions that affect my time and planning tasks is the key to succeeding in the classes. Control of my professional and personal life will help me set essential priorities.
How will what you learned help you improve time management and decrease stress at home, work and in school? (at least 50 words)
Making the most of time will ensure that activities do not collide in activity list. In this case, creating a time log and learning where time is going will ensure that I have adequate time for each activity in my life. Setting priorities will help me to focus on important things.
Question 2:
After reading chapter 5 in P.O.W.E.R Learning, answer the following questions with 50-175 words per response:
Which three strategies from this chapter seemed most useful to you? Why? (at least 50 words)
Preparation, evaluation and rethinking are important strategies in the process of note-taking. The procedures are important because they form an empirical framework for guiding this process. Learning how to take notes helps to generate and organize ideas, thoughts or evidence, which is important in developing an argument.
How can you use those strategies to improve your own learning? (at least 50 words)
Preparing to take notes is essential because it ensures that there is a background information on the subject at hand. Evaluation, at the same time, helps to reflect on the content of the notes. Last, rethinking the notes will help to identify ways in which I can use the noted for future purposes.
Question 3:
After reading chapter 10 in P.O.W.E.R Learning, reflect on the sections on handling stress and keeping well. Then answer the following questions with 50-175 words per response:
Which three suggestions for handling stress from this chapter do you think will be most useful to you? Why? (at least 50 words)
Stress management involves different strategies that include preparation, evaluation and rethinking the whole process. The most important procedure for handling stress is planning. Planning, in this case, helps to create a roadmap of the programs of managing stress. If this process is carried out correctly, other things fall into place.
How do you think your support system can help to decrease your stress at school, home, and in the workplace? (at least 50 words)
A support system is like an emergency kit. In this case, it must be put in place before you need it. A support system will help me to handle stress by reducing anxiety. Knowing about people who are willing to respond to the problems, helps to protect ourselves from additional stress.
