The Importance of Self-Motivation at Work

Work is a critical part of my daily activities and it counts a lot when it comes to how happy I am in real life. One thing that gets me excited about my work is the fact that what I do is amongst the things I have loved to do ever since I was young. For me, this is a major factor because I always dreamt to be in this position and now that I am here, I am taking advantage of the chances I have to make sure that I offer nothing more than the best to the industry (Herzberg 2017).


As an individual, I want to keep growing but then it takes a lot of energy for someone to feel peace while working which, for now, depends on the fact that I am doing what I love most. I never feel exhausted when coming to work because I love it so much and since I have that connection, I easily feel comfortable working. As a result, I am also able to keep my mind open and invent new ways of doing business. As an individual, I love doing things sincerely by giving my all and once it falls in that cycle, I feel more comfortable to work through regardless of the task’s complexity.


The compensation received for my participation is a motivating factor that defines my work as well. It is actually one thing to love the job you engage with but another to love that job completely and in this case, there is the monetary factor already involved (Herzberg 2017). This factor is enough motivation for me to wake up every day and head to work. I am in love with what I do but with the amount of money involved here, I feel like I have better stakes involved at present.

Change

Factually, it is important for individuals to remain engaged and motivated at work and in most cases, this outcome requires change. However, the change factor can prove scary to some people, especially when it involves sacrifice. A sacrifice is a strain that an individual has to make in order to achieve a certain target in life. Most people find it hard to accept change because they fear to make sacrifices since there are no guarantees that the sacrifice will actually pay off at the end. People also fear change because it comes along with the need to exert one’s self outside one’s comfort zones. Change involves sudden modifications to how one should carry out certain activities, which means that people have to come out of the comfort zones they are used to having.

Change, Attitude, and Self-Motivation

An individual’s attitude has a great contribution towards work influence and motivation. Attitude has the ability to hand someone the morale to work or discourage the person from performing. Employers mostly focus on making sure that their employees retain the best attitude towards business and work so that they can continue having the morale and motivation to keep pushing the business forward.


Surrounding oneself with the right people at work serves as a positive ingredient contributing to efficiency at work. By having the right people beside you at work, it is easy to gain the right attitude and motivation, more so by copying their methods for achieving optimal productivity or efficiency at work. This factor also goes forward to make sure that employees work as a team to achieve their objectives within an organization.
